This is such a lovely picture. I love the fluid movement not only of the water (naturally), but of Lauren herself and that mass of hair flowing out behind her. It lends such a wonderful feeling of speed and action to the piece, and actually makes the move look quite formidable. Of course, it helps that I have some idea of just how hard Lauren can hit with the water she wields, too! But the sweet smile on her face makes it look playful, so you can imagine this is just her showing off, or indulging in a friendly sparring or training match.
I can't remember if I've ever asked, but do the Talwyn ever just show off their powers to amuse or impress people? Like, would they put on a show for their friends or a crowd of onlookers? Or is that considered irresponsible?

Oh yes, everything about the water style is all about the flow. ;) Water is one of the most versatile and dangerous powers one can wield if you know how to do it properly! In this case likely she's just either teaching or maybe someone just had it coming. ;)
It depends on the circumstances. The Talwyn masters will regularly demonstrate for their students, and at times they'll hold events during peacetime where they show off their powers to recruit new students (because who doesn't want to learn how to use elemental powers for their job?), and they are allowed a certain amount of casual use, like Isabelle could make ice cubes for her drink and Lauren has been shown to use her water to make a steam bath (with a fire user) but Talwyn masters in particular are expected to set an example for everyone else.
Basically don't do anything stupid, criminal, or wildly inappropriate and you're okay.
Crystal users have less power so they're more selective but more or less the same rules apply. You can do little things, but since they draw from a crystal you don't want to spend the day making ice cubes and then not have any when attacked by an enemy. Still, don't do anything dumb in front of Lauren and you'll be fine.

Would she be mad if I put on my swimsuit and jumped around in the spray?
Seriously, though, if I haven't already said, I love the idea of using water as offensive, or even defensive magic. It seems that most characters with any sort of water based powers use ice almost exclusively. The only other time I can remember water being used is in some of the spells in Chrono Trigger. So you and Lauren get major awesome points for exploring a seldom used option.
Also, this is a beautiful pic and Lauren looks so cool in her uniform!

Given her smile she might even just be doing that right now, hehe.
Water I think is often underestimated in most cases, when depending on how much, how much pressure it's under, it can cut metal and carve rivers. Plus water speaks quite well to Lauren's general personality, how she likes to handle problems and deal with her enemies. Besides, under the right circumstances, water is more valuable than gold. :)
I definitely do love the Talwyn uniforms, they are all different but form a cohesive look. :)
