This was inspired by a YouTuber I just started watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmwE0aJqkdA which was based off of the "Big Kahuna Burger" from Pulp Fiction. My version is slightly different from his but I recommend both versions nonetheless.
"BIG KAHUNA BURGER"
What You'll Need: (made 4 burgers total)
-2 pounds of ground beef
-half an onion chopped into strips
-1 20 oz can of pineapple in pineapple juice (fresh pineapple would probably be even better, but I needed the pineapple juice, so I killed 2 birds with 1 stone)
-8 pieces of sliced cheese (any cheese you like, I used pepperjack)
-4 King Hawaiian sweet rolls
-butter
-teriyaki sauce
-garlic salt
-pepper
-ketchup, mustard, mayo (optional)
-2 skillets
-1 flat metal spatula
Step 1:
Start by caramelizing the onions and pineapple (but don't waste a drop of that pineapple juice) in 2 separate skillets in butter on med heat. Keep stirring until they get just a little bit of char. Set aside for now when done.
Step 2:
Clean out one of the skillets (no point in dirtying 3 pans) return to heat and coat in butter. Slice the King Hawaiian rolls in half and place them burger side down on the skillet to grill the buns. Only takes about 20 seconds or so. Repeat with all 4 rolls and set aside.
Step 3:
Take your ground beef and roll it into 2 inch balls. Squish um down on the skillet after adding more butter and with the metal spatula, press them down as flat as you can like a pancake. This is what's called a squash patty. As the patty browns, top with a generous amount of pepper & garlic salt, also a few splashes of teriyaki sauce. After about a minute or 2, flip the patty doing the same thing as side 1. Top with the sliced cheese after as it browns. When the cheese completely melts around the patty, scoop it up and place on the bun, top with the grilled onions.
Take another 2 inch ball of beef and repeat, this time adding the pineapple instead of the onions to the second layer. Top with the holy trinity (Ketchup, mustard, mayo) if you like. Repeat this process until all 4 burgers are finished, 8 patties total. Serve with a side of sour cream and onion chips and enjoy.
"CHI-CHI"
For the perfect drink to wash it down (other than Sprite of course) I made Chi-Chi. I learned what a Chi-Chi was from South Park, it's a combination of coconut milk, pineapple juice, and vodka which to me just sounded like a Piña colada. The only difference I found was that Chi-Chi is made with vodka, Piña colada is made with rum. So here's my take on it.
What You'll Need
-20 oz of pineapple juice (leftover from the can of pineapple)
-1 can of cream of coconut (can be found in the liquor aisle)
-1 bottle of V8 smoothie tropical colada
-vodka (pineapple flavor vodka would be best, but I just used the cheap stuff)
-1 tray of ice
-a blender
Step 1:
Add the ice first, then the cream of coconut, pineapple juice, 4 generous shots of vodka (or more depending on how smashed you wanna get) then fill the rest of blender up with the V8. Liquefy for about a minute. Fills 5 small glasses or 3 tall ones depending on the amount of alcoholics you have in your home. Serve with the Big Kahuna for the perfect Hawaiian treat.
As Jules Winnfield once said, "MmmHmm... this IS a tasty burger."
