I believe the big-brother-little-sister relationship could have used a lot more development. In my own work, the big brother is a crucial part of the series. He is the main one who teaches his sister about friendship.
When his sister unexpectedly transforms into an alicorn, he starts to become jealous. To earn his own position as a ruler, he must be ready to learn from his little sister.
