Here I go again with the Blue Ridge hiking theme. Even though this is quite similar to my other illustration, http://tsaiwolf.deviantart.com/art/.....-Hike-91504893 , I feel like I have achieved something more here.
This was basically a test to see how fast I could produce a piece that I consider "finished." Even though I believe that a piece is never really finished, what I mean by that is that I feel that this piece captures the essence of a story; character, setting, and even plot, though it is just a still moment in time. I believe that I did just that, and what is more exciting to me is that I worked on this piece for just a little over 5 hours.
Regarding the reason behind this piece, it was originally just a sketch of the character's face, which evolved into an upper torso drawing, which I then taped above another sheet of paper in order to finish the rest of the body. In the end, I had a character/setting concept piece which is the start of a long-term project of mine: a graphic novel. I have no specifics on the project itself right now, but you will definitely be seeing more artwork of this and other characters. Eventually when I have a website up and running, I will also point my viewers that direction.
For now, just enjoy this little number and let me know what you think! Since this is the basic sort of style I am intending on working with for the graphic novel itself, I would definitely appreciate critique.
