Etaflet and Teflate berries are safe to eat by themselves, but when taken together, they create a reaction so catastrophic their manufacturers felt the need them to split them apart on separate sides of the world. All is well until a young fox named Joey brings home a pack of Etaflet berries from across the world with his mind set on making his boyfriend, Jam, the first to try both berries simultaneously. They soon embark on a wild ride of inflation, one that brings them even closer together and surges Jam to sizes he couldn't even dream about.
Another inflation story, this time more centered around cute intimacy and less around inflation. If you want to, let me know what you think of it. Thanks!
After a pleasant sight-seeing stroll around Red Square, Joey decided to finish his travels by buying a nice souvenir for his boyfriend back home. The sea blue fox found himself walking through a brightly colored door, and it wasn’t until he surveyed the colorful decorations and the childish toys that littered the shelves did he realize he stumbled into a kid’s store. Although it was clearly meant for furs tens years younger than him, he stopped himself from turning around when he pondered the gifts he could get his darling. Plushies and trading cards weren’t necessarily souvenirs, but they would certainly bring a smile to his lover’s face.
Joey passed by isles of toys, board games, and child’s clothing until he came across one that caught his eye: snacks. He smirked; trying out various foreign foods with his boyfriend sounded like a fun way to spend half an hour. He strolled through the isle, eying each item to see which exotic flavors would most excite his honey’s taste buds. Ironically, the one he stopped in front of stuck out for its familiarity rather than its obscureness. He snatched a pack off its hook, ready to take a closer look before it was snatched out of his hand.
The employee shook his head. “I told them to put these in the prank isle...” he grumbled. His demeanor abruptly changed when he remembered a customer was standing right next to him. “Oh, I’m sorry,” he said with an apologetic smile. “These aren’t exactly snacks per say.”
Joey nervously chuckled. “Alright, thanks for letting me know.” The worker waved at him as he rounded the corner. When Joey was sure he was gone, he unhooked another bag and scanned his eyes over the cover. These were the infamous Etaflet Berries he always heard about but never seen; they were banned all over America. He flipped it over and read the back.
“Etaflet Berries!” it screamed in a bright, neon font. “Trick your friends into eating these suckers and they’ll blow up into a berry instantly! After a few hours have passed, squeeze the red juice out of them and have yourself a nice punch! Warning: Avoid taking more than one at a time, especially in an enclosed area. Do not, under any circumstances, take these with Telfate Berries.”
Save for a few words, it was identical to the label found on Telfate Berries, the flavor of berries common in his home country. Lining his eyes up and down the shelf, he found only one flavor was available, just like in the states, which stressed how much its manufacturers didn’t want anyone testing the extent of the warning. If he brought a pack with him home, he would have the chance to see what would really happen if both flavors of berries were taken together. It had the same probability to give his lover the crazy expansion he always craved as it did to seriously injure him, but as he let the former bounce around in his mind it became too tempting to ignore.
He bit the bullet and bought them, swinging them around in a Lego-painted plastic bag as he left the store. He spent the next hour lounging around and buying more commonplace souvenirs until it came time to board the plane. Before he got inspected, he made the split-second decision to hide the berries deep in his luggage. He got the OK, but one of the next furs wasn’t so lucky, being pulled aside for carrying the exact same brand of berries. Staring at the scene, Joey realized the warning wasn’t one to take lightly if extra lengths were taken to ensure the two berries never meet; it excited him more than worried.
As the plane took off, he relaxed in his chair while imagining how happy he’ll be to see his lover. With how lackluster his other purchases were, he was glad he could buy something his boyfriend could actually appreciate, possibly more than anything he ever gifted him. Watching St. Basil’s Cathedral being blurred by a thick layer of clouds, he had a feeling tonight was going to be special, but was blissfully unaware about how much the lives of him and his lover were about to change.

Jam sat impatiently at his computer desk, mindlessly checking and rechecking various websites. It was funny; months ago, the photo and video sharing sites he used to frequent so often were enough to keep him entertained for the entire day. Now with a boyfriend that showered him with love and attention, they paled in comparison. The red fox wanted nothing more than to snuggle up against his love’s warm body, but he wouldn’t be home for another day.
As the front door slammed, Jam’s head perked from its slouched position. He raced toward the door, his breath becoming more rapid as looked forward. At the door was Joey, holding shopping bags in one hand and luggage in another. He dropped both of them upon seeing his mate. The two sprinted and threw their arms over each other, embracing like long-lost tree sloths.
“Did you miss me, Jam?” Joey whispered.
Jam wiped back tears before responding. “Of course I did, baby. Didn’t you say you’ll be there for four days?”
“It was only three,” Joey cheerfully replied, his tail wagging behind him as he broke from their hug. “I wanted to surprise you.”
Jam frowned; his boyfriend was almost too obsessed with keeping secrets. “I’d prefer if you didn’t lie to me like that. I would’ve been happier today if I knew you’d be coming home soon.”
A long pause followed. “I’m sorry,” Joey said. “You just look so adorable when you’re surprised, with your puppy dog eyes and wide smile.” Joey smiled, pleased to see his boyfriend blush at the compliment. “But, if you don’t like surprises, then I guess I should just donate these gifts...”
“Gifts?” Jam’s ears straightened as his tail wagged behind him. “You really didn’t have to...”
Joey rummaged in his bags for the presents. Returning, he rocked up and down on his toes with his arms crossed behind his back. In a swift motion, he threw them over his head, revealing a collection of shirts and mugs.
Jam eagerly nosed through each of the items with a warm smile. “Aw, that’s so sweet of you baby.” He playfully rolled his eyes at a particularly cheesy shirt. “’I heart Moscow.’ The quintessential shirt to get wherever you travel. The basic, repetitive design never gets old.”
Joey nudges his lover’s shoulder. “These aren’t the main attractions. I’m saving the real present for later.”
“There’s more?” Jam’s face brightens up, eliciting a chuckle from Joey.
“Yep. Just one, but its a big one. I’m saving it for later tonight during you know when.” Joey winked.
Jam’s eyes widened; inflation always made him the most excited. “Wow, I didn’t think you’ll be able to find inflation-based gags over there.”
` Joey ran his fingers through his lover’s fur. “Yep, and just for you baby.” They blushed, their faces inches from each other. Joey grabbed Jam and brought their lips together. Startled, Jam dropped his gifts and squeezed his boyfriend’s shoulders. The two of them kissed for a good ten seconds, their tongues and tails dancing with one another.
Jam broke away with loving, half closed eyes. “I’m going to make us a nice dinner to celebrate,” he purred. “Cinnamon rolls, as usual?”
Joey chuckled; he was loving their lax diet more every day. “Yeah, baby.” Joey blew his love a kiss, and Jam responded with a cute wave as he bounced into the kitchen. Smiling, Joey retreated to his room.
Joey threw his luggage on his bed and zipped it open. He grumbled as he shifted through piles of clothes, cursing himself for hiding the Etaflet Berries so well, but eventually yanked them out. Reading the warning three times over, he was left with more questions than answers. What could be so dangerous about the berries that justified them being sold at separate corners of the world? Why was the warning worded in such a way that it only increased his appetite to test the warning? Why was the warning so vague to begin with?
Upon hearing a knock and a swing of the door, he shivered. He saw his boyfriend giggling as he tapped against the door frame. “I didn’t meant to startle you, babe,” he teased. “Foods ready in the kitchen when you are, deary~” When he rushed out of the room, Joey took a minute to think over things. He had no idea what the warning implied and felt somewhat irked at using his boyfriend as a guinea pig, but the suspense was half the fun of it, the feeling of not knowing exactly what would happen. At the very least, he should give his love the choice. He took a berry from each bag and shoved them in one pocket, stuffing the near-full bags in his other before chasing after his boyfriend.
~
When Joey opened the door to their play room, he was greeted by his foxy spread out naked on the floor like an exhausted puppy, his tail happily pounding against the marble floor. Joey returned his lover’s smile, cradling the berries in his pocket with one hand. The room was massive; the hundred foot wide space was at least twice as big as the rest of their house. Exemplifying its largeness was a ceiling that rose several stories above them. The glass, dome-shaped structure served as a gorgeous sky light for when they felt like star gazing.
Joey laid next to Jam, marveling at the stars above. “Are you ready for your present, darling?”
“I’ve been ready,” Jam responded excitedly. Joey smiled, reaching in his pocket for the red berry and letting it slip onto the red fox’s paw. Jam sat up. “Joey, isn’t this a Etaflet berry?” His voice trembled.
“Just for you, Jammy,” Joey said. He meekly stared the ground, his tail waving in figure eights. “Actually, I kind of wanted to try something special tonight...” He retrieved the other berry from his pocket and placed it in Jam’s paw.
Jam was briefly confused, wondering what was special about a berry he ate pretty much every night, but when it clicked, his face morphed. “You want me to try them together? But, isn’t that supposed to be dangerous?”
Joey studied Jam’s face. His quiet voice spoke uncertainty and nervousness, but his rapid breaths and blushing cheeks read curiosity and excitement. “They could be,” Joey admitted. “But it could just be another overblown warning, meaning we’ll get to have a little more fun tonight.”
Jam stared blankly. “You don’t even know?”
Embarrassed, Joey tangled his fur. “No… But, isn’t that the exciting part? Just doing something out of the blue and see how it plays out? I’ll understand if you don’t want to do it, but this could be your chance to experience something truly magical, something so forbidden and safe-guarded I had to travel halfway around the world to get it.”
Jam stopped himself from groaning, admitting his reckless boyfriend was onto something. He’s been thinking about having a more extravagant inflation for a while now. He was simply going to take a bunch of Telfate berries and chug them down, but his lover’s proposal sounded a lot more mysterious and enthralling. He could fill up the entire room, turn into a permanent berry, or even explode, and not knowing which if any of them would actually happen made it all the more exciting. Feeling his heart race, he knew he couldn’t bring himself to refuse his lover. The only thing left was to ensure his boyfriend was fully committed.
“Joey,” Jam said slowly. “Will you be alright with whatever happens to me? Even if...”
Joey understood what Jam meant. He sighed before responding. “I will. I’ll love you no matter what decision you make, no matter what happens to you.”
Jam gently squeezed the berries in his hand, then looked to his lover with nervous yet excited eyes. This was it, the day he makes history, the day he tests the untestable. With a swift motion, he plopped the berries in his mouth. He let the contrasting flavors bounce around in his mouth a bit before swallowing with a forceful gulp. As his heart raced, Joey inched closer to him, placing his paw over his own. They smiled at one another.
Their intimacy was suddenly interrupted by a loud gurgling in Jam’s gut. The flat surface jutted out, quickly rounding into a six inch sphere. Joey took a few steps back to leave room for Jam to grow, but by the time he backed against the door, Jam already ballooned an extra half-foot. Jam’s cheeks puffed, his limbs shrank, and his body parts mushed together. By the time he reached a two feet diameter, he was a near perfect sphere, save for a head that stuck out like a sore thumb and a bubbly butt that added a nice bulge to his form.
It usually took much longer for Jam’s body to reach this size with just Telfate berries, but that wasn’t the only abnormality. As Jam’s body bulged out five, ten, then twenty feet, it far exceeded the capacity of an average dose of berries. One of them would cap Jam at five feet; two taken together would barely scrape ten.
Seeing his lover grow taller, Joey figured he didn’t have much time left until Jam was unscalable. With a running leap, Joey latched onto Jam’s fuzzy fur. A few strides later, he was face to face with the pudgy fox, his knees inches deep in Jam’s squishy stomach. He smiled as he examined Jam’s cheerful smile and sparkling eyes, thankful he wasn’t hurt.
A loud rumbling took Joey’s eyes away from his lover. They widened when they looked down; the red fox had already grown fifty feet wide, his body bouncing on the nearby walls. Consuming an extra foot by the second, it wouldn’t be long before Jam’s body threatened to tear down the whole room. As Joey saw his lover’s strawberry fur ride up the walls and press against the glass, he dug his face into Jam’s fur, expecting the room to burst any second.
With a bombastic shatter, the ceiling cracked, raining a shower of glass over the love birds. The walls around them quickly crumbled with loud cracks and bangs. As Jam spilled into the adjacent rooms, their furniture and electronics and appliances were reduced to scraps. When the barrage of sounds ceased, they examined the ruins of their home with speechless expressions; neither of them expected the results to be this chaotic.
Jam chuckled. “No wonder they put a warning on those bags. Imagine how many children would have their homes completely destroyed through a harmless prank.”
Joey was confused by his love’s joyousness. “Jam, our house just got destroyed, and you’re still growing! Why are you acting like it’s over already?”
Jam looked over his body, not understanding Joey’s concerns. “Well it can’t possibly go on much longer,” he reasoned. “I mean, being this big is nice, but there’s only so much punch you can put in those berries. I’m betting I won’t end up larger than a mansion by the time this is all over. How about you?”
Joey’s first instinct was to object his boyfriend, but he stopped himself. Why should he be bothered if his boyfriend wasn’t? “I’m betting you’ll be mountain sized,” he teased, playing along with his mate’s game. “The biggest of them. I’m talking Mount Everest.”
Jam blushed. “Mount Everest is a bit of a stretch.”
Joey shook his head. “Of course not, baby. You’ll be an expansive ocean of red. Everyone will gape at your enormous form, some with awe, some with shock, while you’ll be content to merely laze about and wobble around like the world’s biggest strawberry jello.”
Joey’s scenario enticed Jam, but he didn’t let himself fantasize too much. “That’s sweet baby, but it sounds a bit too good to be true.”
Joey quietly crumbled the bags in his pocket, desperately fighting to urge to cram them inside his love to prove him wrong. When his eyes glided towards Earth’s horizon, he realized he didn’t need to. Failing to find ground beyond the red sheet of fur, he discovered Jam broke both their bets while they talked.
“Jam!” Joey exclaimed. “You look absolutely massive! I can’t even see the end of you; you must spread out for miles!”
Jam couldn’t see as far as Joey, but wiggling his body around, his heart thumped furiously. Just moments ago, he wasn’t much bigger than their house, but now he felt his body spread over hills and crush surrounding buildings. This was exactly what he wanted his whole life – to be unimaginably huge, completely immobile, and extraordinarily jiggly – and yet it felt greater than he ever imagined it would.
“Joey this is incredible!” he beamed, giggling as he jiggled his enormous body. “Thank you so much baby. I give you crap sometimes for being too adventurous and risque, but this by far the funnest thing I’ve ever done in my life, and it’s all thanks to you!” He searched for his lover’s face, expecting him to blush at the gratitude, but grew worried as he found him staring blankly in the distance instead, deep in contemplation. “Joey, are you alright?”
Joey recalled the time he attended a lecture on the inner workings of Telfate berries. He mostly went there so he could dazzle his boyfriend during his next inflation, but never got around to telling him. He learned the berries were a combination of Etaflet and Telfate transformer, the two substances separated by a squishy barrier. When the berries are chewed, the chemicals combine and form a reaction. This reaction causes the Etaflet to expand and transform into Telfate, hence how Telfate transformer got its name. The newly-created Telfate sits inside its chewer in a large blob until a few hours pass, at which point it begins to thin and separate, slowly escaping out the chewer’s mouth. Etaflet berries work similarly, except with the chemicals swapped.
Therefore, when both berries are chewed together, the cycle is extended. The Telfate transformers work as intended, taking the Etaflet, expanding it, and transforming it into Telfate. However, this activates the Etaflet transformers, taking the Telfate, expanding it, and transforming it into Etaflet. This reactivates the Telfate transformers, taking the Etaflet, expanding it, and transforming it...
“Jam!” Joey exclaimed with a spark in his eyes. “The inflation is endless! The Telfate and Etaflet berries just feed off of each other, meaning you’ll only continue growing indefinitely. That’s why there’s all these warnings and regulations and bans. You may very well destroy the entire world!”
Jam’s heart pounded with excitement, but he couldn’t bring himself to believe his boyfriend. “N-no,” he stammered. “It’s can’t be forever. I’m sure it would just wear off after some time, right? It can’t possibly be true...” However, Jam started to doubt himself as he expanded to grander heights. He felt himself surpass lakes, districts, countries, and continents, with each size becoming faster to reach than the last. Jam panicked as he felt an odd, floaty sensation flow through his entire body. Seconds later, he found himself in outer space, looking straight at the planet he once occupied.
Jam’s perception of reality shattered in an instant. If he could outsize his own planet, then growing infinitely wasn’t much out of the realm of possibility; his boyfriend must be right. He gazed into his lover’s eyes with a mixture of disbelief and joy and his speech became rapid and jumpy. “Joey, am I dreaming? Am I really growing bigger than the planets?
Joey nodded with a smile. “All of them. You’ve already passed Earth, and it doesn’t look long until you outsize Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter...”
“Stop it! Stop it!” Jam yelled. “This – This is too much for me!” Overflowing with ecstasy, his heart pounded like a drum and his face sweated in excitement. He remembered all the times he jokingly imagined blowing himself to the size of planet, but now he was expanding far past the size of worlds.
Joey placed his paw against Jam’s cheeks, nudging himself closer to his lover’s head. “This is all for you. All of it is you.” He smiled as he saw his lover’s curious eyes gaze over his gargantuan form. Joey took Jam’s head and turned it towards his own so he could look deep into his adorable eyes. “I didn’t think it would get this crazy, but I’m glad it did. I’ve never seen you so happy, and that makes me happy.”
Jam smiled as tears ran down his face. Watching his lover happily rub the tears off his face, he knew Joey truly was the fox for him. “I… I love you, Joey.” They stared at one another momentarily before closing their eyes and connecting their lips in a passionate kiss.
Jam felt warmness slither through his entire planetary body. He thought he couldn’t be happier, but this kiss propelled his happiness to realms he thought were unreachable. Overwhelmed by the combination of romance and constant growth, he lost himself in Joey’s lips, and judging by how unwilling his lover was to budge, he knew similar feelings flooded him as well.
Jam’s mouth gaped when Joey took his lips away, so entranced his face muscles locked. Joey’s blue face was sprinkled with red as he gazed upon his lover’s lush face. With their enjoyment reaching a new peak, Joey knew what he had to do to capitalize on the moment. He reached inside his pockets, fumbling to take out the crumbled bags.
Joey’s eyes bulged, his heart skipping a beat. “M-more berries? I-I’m already big enough, almost the size of galaxies at this point.”
Joey smiled, kneading his paws into Jam’s flesh. “I can read your face, darling. I saw your ears perk up right when you saw them. I know you’re silently begging for me to fill you with the berries in the rest of these bags. When I pour these inside you, you’ll start expanding at light speeds, maybe even faster. You’ll grow so large we won’t even be able to find objects to compare you too, but even as you become immeasurable, you’ll be able to feel your body consume the entire universe, forever rumbling from the juices that slosh inside your body.”
Jam’s heart pounded ever faster as Joey continued teasing the galactic fox until he couldn’t deny his wishes any longer. “I- I want it, but when I get it, I’m afraid the pleasure would overtake me. I’ll faint, or end up so comatose I’ll drool forever.”
Joey crawled towards his lover, his heart too beating with anticipation. “I know how much your body craves for these, Jammy. This is a journey we’re going to take together. Together, we’re going to blast you out of this cramped universe.”
Fully convinced, Jam snapped his jaws open, his heart accelerating as the berries poured into his mouth. After chewing and swallowing, the suspense both worried and excited him. Would his body explode with the sheer quantity of berries entering his system? Would his growth be largely unaffected, or it would rocket to levels so grand it pushed him past the universe?
Abruptly, Jam’s body jolted, distorted, bulged, and shifted to preposterously extreme lengths. He expanded past the galaxies, bouncing any objects that collided with his celestial form to the edges of the universe. When Jam saw a black, Earth-like horizon, his heart pounded; he realized there was a limit to the universe after all, and it wouldn’t take long before he collided with it head-on. Moments later, every galactic entity became squished between Jam’s enormous body and the invisible curve of the universe. He was hit with a wave of regret as he looked over to Joey, worrying more about the fate of his lover as each second ticked towards the inevitable. Then, in a silent bang, everything – from planets to stars and black holes – exploded and disintegrated. The only entities that survived were Jam and, miraculously, Joey.
Jam gave an enormous sigh of relief when he opened his eyes to see his lover still breathing, staring back at him with his face inches deep in the red fox’s large moobs. Jam giggled at the sight as his tensions waned, and the blue fox laughed back. His eyes twinkled with the curiosity of a young child as he examined his new environment.
Dangling like ornaments of an endlessly wide and black tree were alternate universes, each contained in their own vibrant sphere, with little dots inside indicating where the stars and galaxies rested. Jam thought they were condensed or compressed at first, but quickly realized he’s grown so large that entire universes looked like mere planets.
Joey stared in awe at his boyfriend. The odd locations of the universes illuminated their bodies at abstract angles, but it served well in adding an extra layer of beauty to Jam’s face. Fawning over the streaks of colored light on his face, he began to understand the appeal of looking at someone under candlelight, but even then he assumed he would have never seen something so unique and vibrant on Earth. He snuggled himself out Jam’s moobs, crawling closer until their noses kissed.
“You look absolutely stunning,” Joey complimented with a sentimental smile.
Flattered, Jam blushed. “I feel stunning, and I’m still growing to insane sizes. When I was the size of a universe just a minute ago, I felt absolutely enormous, but now it feels so minuscule. I feel like I’m expanding the length of several universes even as we talk, and it’s crazy that I actually know how long a universe is just by how it feels. I would have never imagine myself growing to the size of a single universe, but I’ll only keep growing larger and larger forever more.”
Joey smiled as he listened to his lover rattle on, brushing his hand over his lover’s ear. “I’m glad you love this so much. I would have jumped through a thousand more hurdles if I knew it would make you so happy.
Suddenly, the smile on Jam’s face turned into a serious frown. “It’s not just inflation I’m thrilled about,” he admitted. “It’s fun and enthralling and all, but what makes it for me is having you by my side the entire time. I can’t get the same thrill if I inflate all by myself. It’s you that makes everything in my life feel a thousand times better. I would’ve easily traded everything away to be with you forever, even this.”
Joey sat speechless for a few moments, feeling his heart flutter with warmth. Months ago, he wouldn’t imagine anyone expressing their love for him with such passion. However, ever since their first few dates, he knew they shared a special chemistry and bond, one that extended wider than even the ginormous body he rocked atop. With tears running down his face, he closed his eyes and nudged his head against Jam’s face, comforted by the loving purrs of his mate.
“Jam, I love you so, so much.”
“I love you too.”
