It's a phase of adaptation to be honest. And you definitely don't need to spend big money on digital art either. I got a small bamboo tablet years ago for about 80 bucks (still use it today) and there is plenty of free software available (such as GIMP) Everything else after that just goes towards making your job easy and more enjoyable (Like a scanner, a bigger tablet etc.)
You gotta learn new techniques too, it takes time and practice. Personally, I've felt that it was like learning to draw again.
