From across the canyon,
A guitar plays,
Through an amplifier, along the lake,
It was an old melody, I recognized the song,
I had an amplifier too, so I played along.
I'm making some noise!
I'm still a working boy
At the top of my voice saying
Look at me mama, I'm making some noise!

hahaha excellent job you two, really love the little variation lately. Wonderful job with the tube metal and reflection, looks almost a cross between silver and crystal, but pulls off perfectly. AND that song is an awesome song <3 the horizon line seems a liiiiiiiiiiittle different, but much love
Quite how a coyote would form an embouchure I dunno ^^ But cool piece for all that it's a Sousaphone and not a flügelhorn or a carnyx.
# It doesn't take him very long to get a tumble,
Oh, all the rhumba lovers go into their rumble.
Oh, how I'd love to be his double,
For without a bit of trouble
With his oompah-oompah-oompah
He can knock eleven ladies for a loop-a.

While I don't play tuba I still play a low brass instrument (trombone) so this is like...epic win for me. In addition to that, I love the purple tones that are evident in every aspect of the picture. It brings the whole landscape and the coyote together in a very smooth and calming way. +fav for sure!
The title sounds like that of a Children's Book. I know this is a one off pic but I'm just wondering if you're going to develop this idea further?
Also, I really like how you painted the night sky with a varying shade of purple. That's not something you see too often.
Also, this came to mind --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T0GRjxOP98
Good stuff! :)
Oh yeah, one more question, do you have a high res version of this? >.>

I saw an AP article about the "Dangers of the Grand Canyon", and having seen this picture just the other day one particular paragraph caught my attention:
"Some hikers do undertake extraordinary preparations. But other times, rangers say they aren't sure what people were thinking. They've seen a man in a business suit carrying a briefcase full of water bottles, a man playing a tuba and people hiking without shoes or in flip-flops."
Well they were half right since it's a sousaphone and it wasn't exactly a man.

There is audio of this! http://www.amazon.com/gp/recsradio/.....3&disc=001
Saxophonist Paul Winter was recording a solo at dusk in the California Sierras, when a wolf joined in for an impromptu duet.

What a brilliant piece. I rather like how the tuba- think that's what it is- reflects the sky...I am not sure if you made for it to come off almost as though it was blending into the sky, but that's the effect it portrays. Either way...I like the coyote's expression, and I like the concept of the piece quite a bit. Beautifully rendered.
Believe it or not, Blotch, this ISN'T the first time I'd ever seen a coyote with a tuba! One of my all-time favorite comic book and portfolio artists - Lela A. ("Fusion"/"The Dreamery") Dowling did a series of mini-gag sketches - which were sold at both sci-fi/fantasy conventions and 'furry cons'. And one of them, in particular, was titled "Jack Didn't Act Like Just Any Old Coyote". The 4"x4" inked and colored image depicted a trio of coyotes on the left howling at the moon, while 'Jack' on the right was sitting on his haunches, blowing away on HIS brass instrument! Needless to say, I'd bought this 1999 'limited edition' work of hers (#21 out of a series of 25), where - to this day - it hangs on my bedroom wall, just to the right of my computer...
This isn't to say, Blotch, that I'm comparing 'apples' to 'oranges'. On the contrary; this is more of an 'apples' to 'apples' comparison. Whereas Ms. Dowling's work is more of a 'Granny Smith' classic, your "...Coyote..." is a very sweet 'MacIntosh' (in terms of setting, color, and overall presentation). Nice going!
you seriously did a really gorgeous piece here. i really am in love with the background here. reminds me of hte kind of vast open area i always like to go driving through.
(and for some reasont he title seems a bit more touching than the piece is, but it add some feel to it that gives it that 'life' it needs. if that makes sense XD)
keep sharing more awesome works ^^

I live in Arizona, in Tombstone. where I live there are alot of Coyotes and there just happens to be one that cant "sing" to save his or her life. about every other night this poor thing chimes in on the others singing sessions and ends up making both my husband and me put on ear muffs. Its REALLY bad!! The poor thing sounds like a dieing cow or something.
oh well.
