I actually heard that the Pokémon world that we see is geographically similar to Japan. Or something along those lines. It could be that the lands like Kanto and Johto are in fact the mainland, and the rest of the areas are islands, but considering the rate at which they're discovering "new" Pokémon, it is kind of curious as to where they're all coming from… aside from Brock succeeding in his idea of becoming a Pokémon Breeder, that is.
