As far as I know Arnold is a great render engine. If you ever do something related to skin and organic stuff I'd recommend you to look up "ALShaders" as far as I know the extension to Arnold is free and the shaders are great.
VRay recently got an implementation of the ALSkin shader, for me it addressed all the problems I got with VRays integrated ones.
(This Sergal render doesn't use it btw)
Well, every render has noise. :P
Some like VRay have an integrated denoiser which can safe massive amounts of time, maybe you should see if Arnold has something similar.
