Made a better ref cause the first one was awful. I've sorta nailed the design a little better and im quite happy with it now.
Current all-round sona. Name is pronounced like 'Deeno'. In my original ref I called them a He, but it always felt a little weird to me, since they dont really associate with any gender. Deernosaurs dont breast feed their young, so neither gender have breasts or nips. Males have antlers, so thats one way to tell them apart. Dino lives with a human family, and often gets confused for male because of the flat chest. This has lead to them feeling pretty androgynous growing up and they dont really mind being called a He or a She.
Deeno is egg-laying/oviparous. Deernosaur chicks develop partly in the womb as the egg forms, so for a time they are fed through umbilical cord and therefore have belly buttons.
For the purpose of the bio below, I'll refer to Dino using 'They/Them', but Dino prefers you just pick male or female pronouns and stick to it.
---
Dino is pretty chill most of the time, but easily irritated and also quite pessimistic about life. As the runt of the litter, they're unusually small for their age and slow to develop, so they still have fawn spots. The tail is a birth defect, as usually they are longer and more nimble. That combined with the fawn spots make Dino very self concious at times, and they looks forward to getting antlers someday. They're convinced they'll get them, despite the female genetalia.
Dino is pretty lazy and would rather watch cartoons than go hunting. Sleeping is their favourite thing.
They likes hugs and being made a fuss of (though he wouldnt admit it)

looking at this and reading the description again...
specifically your comments on how they see themselves as gender neutral, and not associating with either gender...
and it got me to thinking what if someone or a species thought itself and associated itself as both genders in contrast to humans.
Something to think about, eh?

Species that dont have male or female are definitely interesting to me! I also like the idea of something being both genders at once, or able to switch between!
My character Dino is definitely biologically female, but in terms of their behaviour, they switch between male and female often
