Actually, the ladybug family has around 5,000 species in it in various colors and patterns. Here are just a few examples:

like where the black spots on a red ladybug are so big/too big, to where they meet together, and leave only little red areas between them, that look like little red star/gem shapes?
I have seen those too, though the fist orange, yellow, and black ones; were far more of a wtf factor.

with this one, it's most likely just that the "black spots" are so over size, that they cover it's whole shell.
my mom and dad live out in the middle of nowhere, so they still have areas of ledge near their house, that some times get covered in SWARMS of ladybugs...
as does my aunt's; tea and dinning room, at her old farm-house. (though, she hates it.)
ladybugs like to hang out where it's; warm, sunny, and there might be food... in cold weather.
we actually had some; that would sneak into this old college greenhouse, that I worked at once.... they'd do so every fall, so the greenhouse staff; knew that they didn't have to buy any of them in, over the winter.
