"By the Light" I so love doing these! I'm rather mystified at his expression though. It's not at all what I was aiming at and attempts to retouch in that direction have utterly failed. I know what it looks like to me, what do you (oh faithful viewers) see as his emotion?

I'd say he looks forlorn or thoughtful--and I'm so totally in love with this style of artwork. The details really pop out when there's so much black. It melts into the black and at the same time leaps out at the viewer, which I think is just... I don't know... magical? And I really like how the color is minimal--it gives it more flair, and it's a lot more striking and different.
Reminds me of one of those moments where they're laying half asleep and half awake, not sure what to do with themselves...
Wistful / Thoughtful / Musing over troubles, the dominance of black represents that in my opinion
The titles suggests Hope - the light is the guide
Though whether he can fix his troubles is his choice, but the light is always there, just got to look for it :3
Very beautiful ^^
I love his cloak and eyes :3

The expression I read from this wolf is resignation. Resignation because of what? I don't have a clue.
As to what might have "fixed" his expression, in my amateurish estimation it would be for him to raise his muzzle to nearer the horizontal. As it is, he seems to have lowered his muzzle in ... as I said ... resignation. That open distance between the top of his upper eyelid and the bottom of his eyebrow tends to suggest the raised eyebrow of an innocent.
I love the lighting. It's beautifully handled.

I know this was posted quite a long time ago, but I stumbled across it the other day and realized how little I understood of FA mechanics back then v.v
Anyway, I wanted t thank you for inspiring my very first submission to this community. To this day I still enjoy your art and find inspiration from it, even if not quite as directly as this piece.
So thanks again dear. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3065567/
