True story: this was one of the first images that I ever scanned digitally into a computer. I was a freshman start art college in 1993 and had my first opportunity to use a genuine scanner and I liked this picture so much that I wanted to see how it looked in digital. Later in 1995 when I bought my first computer I used that scan as my desktop wallpaper for at least a year.
So yeah, I really, really like this picture a lot.

I agree with that! I collect reprints of the really old comics (e.g., George Herriman's Krazy Kat -- over 100 years old) and that's one of the things that makes me nuts. One company released the Sunday comics in nice, two-year volumes, each with a nice, original cover. Then they reprinted them again, in three hardcover volumes, but without the individual annual covers.
Steve, good evening!
A post like this fills in the check-box in my heart that still says believes in fate. This comic- as in, this particular issue- is my Comic Book Collection #1. I bought my copy in Summer 1992 (June or July does seem to fit) off the new comics' rack at the original location of The Silver Snail on Queen Street, here in Toronto. I didn't even have a longbox or even my two original 'squat' boxes (200-issue capacity, but shaped more like an office document box with 100 on each side, and a flap lid); I think I managed to find a large bag that fit, roughly, about a dozen comic books (eventually) before looking into getting proper storage for them.
My collection is now stored in six 200-comic longboxes in my room (the two old 'squat boxes' have long since been worn out and recycled) and Albedo Vol. 2 #5, from Antarctic Press, is within one of them. I remember seeing the cover (I believe that's Dea Htuhok-Kho, barepawed with carbine pistol) and wondering what seemed familiar about it while being confused as to why I thought it. I believe I became a regular user of The Trap Line BBS that June, but aside from what little I might've gathered by that point, I don't think I had any idea there was a whole massive fandom in the background to go with it.
Thank you, Steve, for being my Comic Book Collection #1. And Dea, too. She has very lovely footpaws.

I still have this comic, unless the roaches have gotten to it. I haven't checked my 'collection' boxes since I gave my daughter my original Teen Titans comics when she was ten. She wanted to know the 'real story' behind Starfire. Come to think of it I still have the original board game in the living room shelves. We never played it so I'll probably just toss it in to recycle later this year.
