Melody is a a brilliant inventor who has several degrees in fields such as biology, physics and engineering. Though her inventions are considered revolutionary, her rather eccentric personality has lead some to believe her to be a 'mad scientist' of sorts. As such, there are some inventions that she mostly keeps to herself. In spite of this, she has the best of intentions in mind, and wants to make the world a better place in her own unique way

Melody eventually met up with a raichu named Selena, who lost her limbs during a terrible accident. Determined to give the raichu her independence back, she designed revolutionary bionic parts that have the capacity to fully mimic the motions of organic limbs. It is because of these new limbs that Selena is now able to walk again.

The two kept up appointments afterwards, and eventually grew to become very good friends before finally moving in and living with each other.
