Chilling somewhere out of sight. Looks like living with a Dire machine seems to have some side effects, as we are finding out.
More info in Ratbat's corrupted human sheet.
A simple picture to show an updated version of me, as well as redesigned headlight eyes of the Škoda (now named Kazi).

Wow BrokenSoul, this is pretty incredible! You've really improved since the early days haven't you? Not to say your old stuff sucked or anything, in fact that was something I always liked about you was your skill at drawing cars. I'm not a huge fan of the dire-style, but I know not everyone likes my style either so it's definitely a way to make it work with people who prefer feral cars. I just prefer to be held by a cars tires more then anything else personally.
Man each little light on this guy is like it's own framed picture. That detail you went into just drawing his fog light there is fantasic, almost looks photo-real. I had no idea you had such skill in shading. Looking at the perfection in that grille, all the geometrical perfection there I've got a feeling you had a lot more drawing skill in you all along then what you were letting on.
Finally I've been saving up till now to talk about the eye. Congratulations dude, I know you've been trying to establish the style of the eye for awhile implementing those adorable 'lens' style headlights. I really really appreciate the mechanical detail in stuff like this, where you can look at it an see how it would actually work. You can see the guide-rail there along the equator of the eye where you can just see how the whole inner eye can pivot inside the housing like that. You'd think having all that mechanical stuff going on in the eye would be distracting but it really isn't! In fact looking at it I can see the advantages of it, it just really affirms his mechanical nature.
I've been meaning to draw the mechanical workings of my Anthro-cars eyes. They actually have very similar mechanics but on a smaller scale inside the headlight housing. The headlight housing has a special plastic or coating on it that reacts to ultraviolet light, and the mechanical eye inside has an ultraviolet projector inside that shines a weak beam along the inside of the housing turning certain areas of the housing black 'drawing' a pupil in the eye. Hard to explain in writing. ^^;
Man Octavia's tongue and little fangs are so adorable, super whale mouth going on there.. it's so cute. <3
EDIT: Oh I wanted to add that I noticed all the subtle shading and texture work on your character, the scales, and the subtle reflections on Octavia.. really good attention to detail.

Thanks. I thought that maybe through digital I would be able to stop worrying about how to actually produce an effect and just do it because there are brushes, undo and stuff, and focus on the ability to depict things instead. Guess it works.
Yeah I prefer "feral" cars myself, because that's how I like them. Making them anthro makes them looks weird and generally are difficult to work with in my opinion. And I was tired of my cars being alive thanks to some dense meta stuff that doesn't really explain anything. That and I warmed up to Dires in the meantime, which makes things weird, but a good kind of weird, hehe.
The eyes have been a work in progress for some time, but only Dires gave me the freedom to design something nice. Glad you like it.
As for your headlights, that's a somewhat curious design, revolving mostly about showing a pupil rather than actual function. That's what it seems like to me anyway, not that it's inherently wrong or anything.
Anyway, thanks for all the good feedback, I appreciate it.

True, digital really does free you to experiment more. I remember on paper once you had part of a drawing drawn and looking good you would be afraid to experiment because you knew every time you had to erase, the paper would look shittier and shittier.
Weird huh? Maybe I'm just used to them but even in anthro-form they still look incredibly car-like to me. While I haven't depicted it yet, they do still go down into feral mode when they have to drive, they be transformers lol. I'm curious what you mean by difficult to work with though. Actually the whole rest of your sentence is vague and confusing to me. Tired of your cars being alive? Meta stuff? Why is being warmed up to Dire stuff weird?
Oh I know, you can see many iterations of those eyes through your previous drawings. But I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit. You were drawing those eyes like that before Ratbat came along, being a Dire car now has nothing to do with it. That eye design is all you.
Well I'm just explaining the things that are different in my design, the base technology is the same as yours.. a swiveling mechanical camera eye.. I just didn't see the point in reiterating what you'd already shown.
NP Broken.

By difficult to work with I mean that you have to figure out a lot of stuff, like how to hold stuff with tire hands, clothes, day to day stuff and so on. But maybe that's what it makes interesting.
I guess I wasn't too clear there. Until now I haven't had a solid explanation why or how my cars are alive. It was like a quality only present in the eyes of the beholder (a lot of meta going on). Dire machines make things weird, because they're alien mechanical organism that managed to take control of a dead metal car. Literally out of this world.
Oh Dires have a lot to do with the eyes. I realized I didn't have to follow the original headlight design (that isn't made for movement) and am able to create a believable cross between the original headlight and alien growth, giving the impression of a mechanical part re-purposed by the now living car. It gave me more freedom.
And yeah, sure, maybe I misinterpreted it a bit, sorry. Like you said, it's a bit difficult in text.

You're right, that IS what makes it interesting. XD Honestly the clothes makes drawing them easier because the clothes cover a lot of details.
Hmh, well I still think there's merit in the quantum consciousness hypothesis myself. Then of course personal experience. Are you saying you've started to not want to see cars as alive because it's "easier?" Oh I actually didn't know the virus in the Dire machines was alien in nature, I thought it was human made.
Really now? Because Ratbat hardly ever draws cars..

To be honest I'm not sure what to believe. I might change my mind when I have a car of my own but right now I feel myself attracted to their physical appearance, and them being alive through physical means makes it more relatable to everyone, myself included. Plus, tendrils can be fun.
Well Ratbat draws eyes rather simple and anime-ish, too. I wanted something better, so why not make them look like the rest of their features?

Well I won't pressure you, that's no way to make someone believe something. Honestly, the fact that someone who lives cars as much as you doesn't own one is a dam crime. Are you just too young or do you live somewhere were they don't have many cars? Oh well I know someday you're gonna make a car really happy. <3
Lol oh yes, tendrils can be, I can see the tentacle porn already lol.

I could buy a car if I really wanted to, and while I want one I don't need it, and I prefer to walk the pragmatist path. That and having my handsome guy sit outside by the sidewalk all day and night just doesn't feel right. There'll be an occupied heated garage at some point, even if I have to build it myself.
Well I can see where you're coming from, I mean I'm in the same place, it sucks leaving my baby outside in the rain and cold. Our dream is to get our own place with a garage soon.
Though I'd argue another way of looking at it: While sitting outside sucks, every car over the years of you not getting one are instead going to people that don't give a shit about them.

While that's true, it is unwise to make purchases of this size (both financial and dimensional) out of guilt. You don't go buying all the pastries in the bakery because some of them will most likely get thrown away at the end of the day (though I sure feel like doing that sometimes).
Hehe, not quite. Just taking on some traits.

Talking to your car hm? Nice. I'm still not sure how much and if things are alive somehow, but I figure it doesn't hurt to be nice to your stuff.
It's an interesting concept. I guess I like the way it adds life to machines without resorting too much to meta crap. And they're also a little creepy and weird (but not too much) which adds to the appeal for me.
