See, the spell is like a blood transfusion. Shabti are lifeless, will-less beings that are incapable of having desires. So gods (like Junior) can pour as much life into Shabti as he wishes without fear of Shabti sucking more out, thereby giving them a lifespan that Anubis can increase or decrease to his whims.
Performing the spell on an already living creature like Kindel will increase his lifeforce into god status, but it's a two-way street when compared to Shabit. Junior would be opening up his resources to Kindel to pull out as much as he wants. And Yes, Kindel can even drain him completely, or could just leave him greatly drained and slowly regain what godhood he had before.
No matter what, Junior was born a god as such that status cannot be taken away from him. At worse, he'd be like Disney's Hercules. Drained, but not dead. (Not that it would matter if he did.) Mortals on the otherhand can be granted god status, but can also have it stripped away from them and would no longer be a god, but because they're already living beings, that eternal lifeforce is not completely interlinked to their own. As such… Punishment
