This sketch has been sitting in my sketch pile for over a year now and I finally decieded to paint it up. I like the alert, "I've just heard something" expression on his face. I can't help but wonder what it is that he's heard.

The question to me seems less like what he's heard but who. His expression gives me the impression he's responding cheerfully to the voice of someone whose company he enjoys (or thinks he will enjoy in the future).

the atmosphere this one gives- not too much nor too little. The antlers just about blend with the tree branches but the leaves set the foreground nicely.
