Oooh look! The left side got cut off.
Anyway, second page. Showing a bit more of the backstory I guess.
I'm not sure I feel about this page, honestly. And for some reason I'm feeling slightly pissed off at myself for it, although I'm not quite sure why. It's probably because I'm excited and having the shit scared out of me all at the same time. I'm really excited about all the new opportunities in terms of character development, aesthetics, designs, plot lines, etc. that this setting opens up. On the other hand, I'm really frightened of screwing this thing up awfully. Really... really... frightened. Especially when it comes to this first story, which I guess is always intimidating for anyone who does something like a comic, or a television series or such. And... Illustrator likes to shit on hand-lettering (although I suppose that just might have to deal with me not having good hand-writing. >:C)
Actually, now I'm starting to hate this page. I just need to quit looking at it and thinking about it.
It's up here now, I've done what I've done, and I suppose that's that.

I quite like it so far. I enjoy the feel of the environment and up comming back story seems interesting. I think you're doing a wonderful job so far. It's way better than the first comic I ever did that I was so damned proud of. Stop being so hard on yourself, it's your first, right? just go with it. It's a learning experience
Thank you.
I know... and coming up with the first installment/episode of anything can be intimidating.
I just have this nagging worry that I might become one of those delusional comic artist who thinks that their work is so amazing, despite the fact that it is clear to anyone outside of the circle of "fans" (I've never really been fond of using that word when it comes to relating to my work) that the comic strip is actually total crap.

Don't worry, I'll let you know when I think your work would be better suited for lue wipes. I understand your concerns about getting a big head and I know a few "artists" that can draw for beans but have a large following just because of the context of their work. But being conscious of being like that, as you are, is a good mentality. People tell me that I under estimate myself and I sell carvings and the like too cheap, so don't undersell yourself.
Oh good! Thank you. :D
Ugh... I hate that.
I know. I pretty much have confidence the size of a cat turd. So... that can provide it's own set of problems.
I just remember reading about all these cartoonist who do bad webcomics who are too arrogant to listen to any criticisms. One of the primary figures that is repeatedly mentioned is Tim Buckley who does Ctl+Alt+Delete.

Maybe an overall critique will help... or not.
The shadows and lcolors are very well done to express the atmosfere of the place.
As always you show your mastery of expressions and the clothing is awesome.
Edgar is a bit more... less mad, is different, not bad just different.
And you used more backgrounds than usual too, you didn't overdid it, you just used the necesaries.
On the other hand the holografic monitor don't look like a hologram it looks like a glass thing, and the guy looks neat but looks like the mustache is misplaced or he is doing funny faces.
and some other too idiot datails with no importance.
With those monitors Rey can read what the guy is reading?
The guy is retarded or just mean? He doesn't noticed Rey's expressions?

I can see that. Edgar is actually very passive-aggressive when it comes to people he doesn't know. He usually tries not to act mad in front of someone he doesn't know that well, but when he's away from them he'll bitch about them for a good long time. Usually, he's outright mad around people he knows though, because usually they're the few people he can let his guard down around and he knows them well enough to know how they may react to his anger, and can more easily counter it. Or at least that's how I've always imagined him. I don't know if that came across or not in the past. But maybe that was because I mostly showed him with Reynard too, whom he often just get's outright angry at. Or maybe it's just because I didn't play that element up as much as I should have.
Yeah. I probably wasn't as concerned about the hologram as I could have been. And LOL MIGRATING MUSTACHE SYNDROME! Admittedly I've never been the best at mustaches. :/ I'm okay with drawing beards, but for some reason mustaches prove to be a pain for me.
And I'm not sure if he can read it or not. I would think that there would be some special technology that would allow for the hologram to be translucent for the user (so that they can see who is approaching, I suppose), but opaque to someone on the other side, for privacy purposes.
Actually that was the part I was worried about. I was worried if the dialogue was too unrealistic or not. Admittedly I've met some people who were just that blunt and tactless, saying things regardless of whether it would offend anyone's sensitivities or not, but I don't know how often you would find those people around. And of course there are stupid people in the world, and many stories have had their share of stupid characters. Still I don't want to do characters that are utterly unrealistically stupid (characters a. la Peter Griffin from "Family Guy").
I think this particular individual is just a tactless individual who is talking about this stuff because it's on his mind at the moment and doesn't really care about Edgar's sensitivities to it, and probably wouldn't care or notice too much because Edgar is not making an overt fuss or scene about it. I could be wrong though... I could have just made a mistake in this.
I guess my biggest fear is being one of those people who completely delusional about their comic. They think that they've done something great, when it's clear to everyone else who isn't a part of their little circle of "fans" (I really hate using that word in the context of my work) that the comic is utter crap.

Yeah. You haven't the chanse to show that part of Edgar, after all always he has been side by side with Reynard.
Invader Zim Holograms could do! That really weird, mustaches has never been a problem to me.
Maybe they works like the plasma monitors you can see them only from certain angles.
It is not unrealistic, I have met people like that, is just I dunno, that was weird, and even uncomfortable and funny, but wait I almost forget with whom I am talking, you love to put you chars in those situatios! XP
Generally I'm used if the situation a situation looks serious it stays that way, and the story has just started and something funny shows up, it is not a traditional way to write. It is not bad just different.
It is not that bad, on the contraire, it looks promising. Is just I'm critical with the people I like 'cause when I do anything that is important to me I want a good critique to help me, but if you want I stop.
I'M YOUR FAN(zombie voice) >8B

Possibly.
True... they could work like that as well.
I just hope I'm not trying to rush to hard to get into anything humorous or anything like that. I really don't want to force the issue too much.
Thank you.
No, that's fine. If you feel you want to critique, then by all means go ahead and do so.
Good good.

Yeah. Actually, I had the idea that their parents owned the company and since they were colorblind (apparently the anthro-type dogs did not evolve color vision), they would create clothing that was black, white, and shades of grey... using bold, distinctive patterns to create an elegant and classy look.
My idea is that later the parents died and the oldest child (Reynard and Edgar's oldest brother), took over the company after a feud between the siblings. He was able to afford a surgery that would give him color vision (the idea being that in the future they could create human trichromatic cone cells, which are the cells of the human eye that allow them to see in color, and inject them into the retinas. This is a tentative idea and I'm probably going to do a bit more research to see if this is actually pseudo-science that doesn't sound too unbelievable.). And once he got color vision he became very over-enthused by it, and started incorporating all these bright, garish colors that didn't coincide in an aesthetically pleasing way at all. Thus the product started to look tacky, which is what they were referring to above.
And that was probably more information than you really wanted to know. Sorry about that. :P

Heavens no! I love that you went into such detail. I think that is so awesome that you go into such depth in creating storylines/ characters/ character depth. And that makes a lot of sense, the whole being so enamored with a sense that it becomes overused.
Like, for instance, when the guitarist from Metallica (ugh) got a wah-wah pedal for his guitar, he began to use it waaaaaaay too much. their guitar parts were pretty boring most of the time anyway (senseless, emotionless shredding) but after he started using the wah so much it just got nearly unlistenable.
Woah...I totally just ranted about a bad band for three lines. Sorry X3
To get back on track, I love this storyline that is coming up. I absolutely cannot wait to see more!
