Besides the possibility of Samus being cloned, I don't think anything else about the trailer is relevant. Of course, if the trailer is a way that showing a possibly cloned Samus also retains her memories, remembering this guy may be VERY relevant.
Or it just means you'll experience some of Samus' past, particularly when she was in-training, and also as her in the present time, in which case this guy could be one of the people Samus worked alongside, which is why he'd ask.

From what I could gather, it shows more about her past as she left the Chozo and joined the federation as bounty hunter... I think it's so especially with that high command dude saying "Any objections, lady?".
It's exactly what got me interested in the game, the focus on storytelling wich is always the least exploited factor of Metroids... It's all about interpretation of stuff you find and hints presented in game... And mostly about the setting you find yourself in, very little about Samus and her involvement in the universe she resides. I find it very good that the game shows us a bit of the bigger picture.

Still, it's just her... Probably there will be such bonus on this game as well, but I wouldn't be surprised at all.
And to think this was quite unintentional. Only happened because people started sexualizing her, finding her sexy in her "bikini" in Super Metroid. Kinda became a tradition for her to take out her armor at the end of the game...
The zero suit is just as oversexualized as ANY marvel or dc super heroine... It's a tight outfit and it's just that. People love to make a fuss about everything.
Metroid is supposed to be the most serious and mature franchise from nintendo anyhow.
Most people associate nintendo with children and then the hardcore nintendo fans get pissed when they're told nintendo is for kids. Pfff...

If Nintendo is for kids, then I'll be a kid for life, I think. I'd rather have games of a variety of genres and stylized art direction over all the sepiatone dime-a-dozen "adult-oriented" games with liscensed music that seem to plague other consoles these days. In my opinion, claiming something is made "for kids" is uaually just making corny excuses for a game that's intended to reach wider audiences. Of course kids may be included in that spectrum, but that doesn't mean they were made specifically with kids in mind. Those are just the sorts of things you have to work for when you want everyone to experience your product. I'd sure as hell love to play Captain Rainbow without having to risk getting my Wii bricked, but I know that'll never happen because the world just isn't ready to subject their children to finding Birdo's "massager" to prove she's a girl.
The thing that really makes me laugh about that whole Zero suit thing is that, aside from Nana(who most people forget to count when it comes to playable female characters), Zamus shows the least skin of any of the female characters in Brawl. Actually it's really the least sexually-biased outfit she's ever been featured in outside of her giant shoulderpads.

As I was saying... Anyhow, relax dude, I'm not saying it's "kids only", but it is oriented at children, it's common knowledge. Nintendo itself is always STRESSING that their target audience is children and adolescents and that is their priority when designing and commissioning games, ask anyone in the business.
Every console has their older audience oriented and children oriented titles, because that is what videogames are... Games. Games=Toy and each are toys oriented at a certain target audience. We all end up taking this too seriously because we are humand and are competitive, it's the old "my penis is bigger than yours" idealism, prejudice and common envy... It's normal, but something that should be managed. Unfortunatelly people prefeer attack eachother with silliness.
But it is true dude, sorry to have to say it to ya, but it is. Nintendo franchises are designed with priority of it being accessible for children so they can create new fans as much as adding fanservice for the fans that are still carrying over their interest. It isn't a matter of taking offence about it, thinking you're being called a child or anything.
Now a days, game fandoms grew to something completelly different from what it was before, it became violent and stupid with competition and assholes that insist on being assholes that end up burning every single person involved with such party that is just enjoying themselves in their corners. Generalization occurs and the members feel threatened by anything for nothing. This is seed of the process of every single violent conflict known to men. Be it ideology, religion, ethnicity, books, movie versions, television series continuities and spinoffs and so on.
People just can't accept eachother cuz deep inside they don't want to, there is always a line and everyone cross someone's line and it spreads.
Hell, all of this talk over a damn VIDEOGAME!

I have a PS3 but that doesn't mean I'm prancing around saying I'm an adult gamer because of it. It's all about preference and interest as a whole.
Hell, when I was a kid I had the snes and had the time of my life with it. But I also played genesis at a friend's house. I wanted the snes because it looked better for me as a whole, graphics, control, sound and also had the games I wanted to play... Ironically I had, and still have, a sonic plushie but never was very interested in sonic games. I bought the N64 blind because I was indeed hyped about it. But after I managed to play playstation at a friend's house I felt like playing the snes again, besides, I was growing more and more dissapointed at the N64 games. After that I always payed attention to the specs, models, controls, sound and all the works before buying any console.
The point is that gamers somehow developed this crazy notion of videogame franchises as if they were religions when they forget what it's all about. And look how we are now.
It's nonsense.
Sheesh...

Heheh. I like this. I try to make a point and you assume I'm getting stressed out over being on Nintendo's kiddy-friendly side. I'm NOT. It's just comes with the territory when you choose to make something that can appeal to everyone versus making something that focuses on a particular group. I'm just saying I'd wear being a Nintendo kiddy fanboy like a medal if being an "adult gamer" means only playing games that look and feel boring for me. I'll take hyper-saturated cartoon worlds over the dreary, boring semi-realism Nintendo haters seem to be so proud of.
I got a Wii for the same reasons you mentioned. Last year's E3 did make me feel as if I'd made a rather poor choice in consoles, but this year made me get that "holy shit Nintendo really wants my money" feeling. I never felt it with Microsoft, and maybe only a fraction of that with Sony. They surprised me, really. I never expected to have more than one traditional Mario romp on a console that wasn't the NES or Gameboy.
The whole thing about the Metroid series though, if I'm not mistaken, is that it's popular OUTSIDE of Japan. I'm fairly certain it's not as big over there as people would lead you to believe, most likely due to the games being mostly non-linear, and coupled with Retro Studios' making the Prime series utilizing a first-person view(I've heard FPS are generally poor sales in Japan because they don't like the lack of peripheral vision. *shrugs*). But despite Retro's design changes, they managed to retain what makes people like Metroid. I just hope Team Ninja does the same.

On Fusion it was an AI based on his personality... but it's not clear... maybe it is the dude posing as an AI or the AI call her lady just by chance... it's never stated or confirmed any of this... And that's the only problem I find with metroid... Plot blackholes galore.
I still don't like it and lots of other people as well... Being in denial won't change a thing.
If you escuse me I'll rant a little even thou that enrages mindless nintendo fanboys as they prepare lame defenses, but to hell with it it's the truth.
Metroid games never fill plot holes and if they try to explain one thing they raise 10 more questions in it's place. And they rarelly fill in any blanks in any metroid game because there are little metroid games... The good part of this is that it's the least milked series in nintendo, but that'll change eventually and very soon, maybe now. They care more about telling the story of a plummer living in a land of mushrooms than to really explore the vast universe and potential in metroid because it makes more money and that's really their goal because mario is much more loved by children then a mature bounty hunter in a serious mission, no matter how colorfull the enemies are. For a fact, Nintendo didn't even cared much for metroid untill they did Prime 1 cuz metroid games never sold much... And only cared because it was one of the few serious games they make and saw it made money so started to like it a bit more.
Nintendo doesn't even hide it, they publicly express they don't give a shit so why bother, honestly. I have better things to do than being screwed around by corporate "wiz" over their heads with their own breath because they made the new hetch-a-sketch that sells for gimmicks as a hi-tech toy aimed at children and forget it was originally a videogame console project. There are other options that do offer me what I want in a different franchise or game that delivers, and end up being much better. Because thats the thing nintendrones does not wanna admit. Nintendo is a phase, they like lil' children and as they grow old they don't care about them no more.
Team Ninja might make a game that is more focused on action than plataforming and puzzle solving, essentially a ninja gaiden exact clone, but I think it's a great departure because they are doing what nintendo doesn't have the guts or give a crap about, using the series potential. I'm very glad to see real focus on story telling and showing that it's her and everyone else, as few as they already are, are a smal footnote of the production. Also that it being oriented at action, it allows for better exploration of Samus's atletic abilities, agility and style other than plain slow movements and shooting mindlessly.
Too bad I won't play it, the wii doesn't offer me enough of interest to justify me spending my money on it, but it's not as if I won't live if I don't. Opposed to the beliefs of a frightening percentage of game fanboys of any kind who blindlessly sell their souls to mindless hype and blindly spend their money on a console for ONE game.
