Tabulineon; Avatar of the Arch-Librarian
Magical pursuits are always legendary, in a sense. The great pyromancers, the dark necromancers, witches, magicians and sorcerers all follow their own masters, worship the names of the 'greatest' in their fields. Few would suspect the same is true for the lowly librarians. Sure, it's a job that takes a lot of skill, especially around magical books, but most wizards look down on the mere 'monkeys' running around to fetch them their books.
Not so much with Tabulineon, the Great-Arch-Grandmaster-High-Keeper of the Imperial Archives. He has dedicated his entire life to becoming the complete best at fetching, categorizing and sorting books, tomes, leaflets, even the odd magical comic book. Nobody really knows much of his early years, as all we noticed was that he was pretty quick at his job. Then, somewhere around his 50's, he suddenly achieved transcendental mastery, disappearing in a wild flash of multilingual consonants.
He currently operates out of a pocket dimension somewhere between the X and the Y of the Upper Case alphabet. Time, space, nonsensical copyright legislature... nothing will stand between him and getting you the book you need.
All you gotta do is ask, but he hasn't made it easy. You'll need pinpoint library skills to discover and sort all the inscriptions he has left across archives everywhere, and you'll need to know 5 ancient languages by heart to read them right. Only when you finish the hour-long incantation with the correct punctuation, sigils and background silence, he sends forth his all-seeing Avatar, to take your request.
Whatever you do with the knowledge is your own business, as long as you handle the books with respect, and bring them in on time. We're serious about that! The maniac has Knowledge-Extraction spells that'll blow your brains out." -- The Unofficial Guide to the History of the Imperial Arcaenaeaum, Page 44
