His parents were old hippies, and he's named after Khalil Ghibran. XD My grandmother thought he was black when she first heard about him. My dad got the reference right away, though, because he's an old hippie, too. ^__^
I'd never heard the feminine form of the name, it has a nice roundness to it, I think. =)
