Blue Macaw's Logo Bunch #116 - TV Channels #48/Toys #2
Hello everyone and welcome back to Logo Bunch! We are finally moving on to something else that is not Disney or Nickelodeon related. However, I've got some good news and bad news for this episode. Let's start off with the good news, being that we now have another Adult Swim logo and we now covered both logos for Adult Swim (at least for now). As you all know, back in episode 57, I reviewed the present and simple Adult Swim logo with the brackets and was introduced in 2003. However, this logo, requested by MercuryMuttx from Deviantart and featuring her character, Kindra, came before that. This was the original Adult Swim logo as it was first launched as a nighttime block on Cartoon Network in September 2nd, 2001. To me, I've never expected something like this to exist because back then, I haven't watched Cartoon Network that much. All it is is a black circle with the words "adult swim" in it. And that's it, except when you add in a bleep in it. Overall, like the present logo, this logo was also simple, and short-lived too, since it was used for 2 years! But that's the good news. The BAD news that we're gonna talk about is our next logo of this episode. On the bright side, this is part 1 of
The_Zoo_Crew's series of requests packed in. But the really bad part about it is not because we're covering a toy company, but a really bad video game publisher as the Angry Video Game Nerd considered it as his arch nemesis in video games. That company is known as LJN, or as AVGN calls it, Laughin' Jokin' Numbnuts. LJN began in 1970 by Jack Friedman as Norman J. Lewis Associates, which is the reversed abbreviation of the company. While being owned by Universal's MCA, inc., they started making great toys usually based on movies and TV shows like E.T., Thundercats, and Voltron. But we come to the worst aspect of LJN, their video game division. When MCA sold LJN to Acclaim Entertainment, they started making movie-liscensed games for the NES, SNES, and Game Boy, and most of them are notorious for its awkward gameplay, bad music, and terrible graphics. After the disaster was over in 2000 with the release of Spirit of Speed 1937 for Sega Dreamcast, LJN was folded into Acclaim and people will not regret for that to happen. As for the logo of LJN, it's SO cliché. As AVGN said in his Back to the Future ReRevisited review, all you get is a Rainbow of Sh*t. "Purple for putrid gameplay", "blue for bad musical abominations", "green for graphical farts and garlic", "yellow for piss poor lack of loyalty to source material", "orange for "orange (aren't) you a fu*king idiot?!"", and "red for high-stress anger-inducing masochism". Put that all together, you got all the colors of the sh*t rainbow. You probably may be wondering why I titled LJN as "Toys #2" instead of "Video Games #12". Well it's because it's better off for LJN to stay as a toy-making company instead of a video game publisher because you won't find any gold in that rainbow in their video games. Welp, sorry you have to see that, but that wraps up today's episode of Logo Bunch! See you next time as we cover part 2 of
The_Zoo_Crew's request. If you love this episode and Logo Bunch in general, make sure you give it a thumbs up, leave a comment in the comments section down below, and follow my adventures in Deviantart and FurAffinity. :)
