Here are a pair of Lupine legionaries in Imperial service. Not nobility, they are accorded respect as members of the Emperor's forces. Not matching the physical strength of humans, they are used more as breakthrough troops, and Behind the Lines raiders. Lightly equipped for maneuverability, they none the less are armored and protected with some quality gear. This is a portion of a larger picture that has humans in it. I may upload the whole thing on yerf.binaries . pencil on paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 7 / 2000

Your wish is granted. This is how the page was printed out, showing all the human Legionaires as well

Having worked with pureblood wolves I have gained a profound respect for their natural strength, that is by and far several times that of a dog, in nearly all respects. I remember hearing about one of the wolves on a platform lifting a 240lb man off of his feet and dangling him in the air by his hood, the setting him back down, gently, just to play with him.
With my wolf like Naakaanee people, even the females are 2-3x stronger than even the average human male. I don't know how to make it any other way.
But I am very fascinated by the fact that your wolf people are not as strong as their human brethren... I like it as a dynamic that they would need us to protect them (which I would happily do!)

it was a question of mass and going bipedal, in that they just don't mass as much as humans do, (On the positive side they don't get fat easily). A quadrupedal Wolf has a much more stable base, and carries as much if not more mass than a human. I assumed that going upright, they would loose some mass, but still retain a better ground speed, and endurence.
I have been around a couple three real wolves, and they are "dog like" but you really can't mistake them for dogs. Completely different attitude and body language. complete lack of subtlety XD.

The Saxons looked pretty much the same as the Vikings (and their shields were almost universally round - it is very difficult to get a shield wall to work, otherwise). The main difference was in hair styles and clothing. Saxons generally wore shoulder length hair and had long moustaches, while Vikings tended towards short beards and crew cuts. Saxons wore puttees, while Vikings often just tucked their trousers into their boots. The iconography on their shields would have also been a distinguishing factor - Christian for Anglo-Saxons, Pagan for Vikings.
Early Viking helmets often had spectacles around the eyes.

While Anglo-Saxon helmets of the same era often had strong late Roman influence.
