This is how Lathanial sleeps. Let everything loose and relax. Let the runes show and let the magic flow. Put on your organic eye masks and cover and doze off.
I'd cuddle him everyday. He's the most calmest when he's sleeping. He has to be. If he gets agitated or angry he may cut himself with his sharp plate scales which is no good. But he's pretty good at keeping calm during sleep.
He also always sleeps next to a body of water because...reasons (he get thirsty)
This beats my personal best on how long I took on a single drawing at 11 hours... he's a very complicated dragon to draw while asleep :x

Oh boy time to do some math cause I don't really know myself how long his tongue is in definite measurements and if anyone knows math please check my math...
According to Blender's MeasureIt add-on, Lathanial's surface area not including his wings cuz that's like secondary covers for him would be 987ft squared and he can cover another dragon of similar size for slimy cuddles, so that'd be 1974ft squared.
His tongue has a width of about 3 ft so for him to cover 1974ft area with a 3ft width tongue it'd be about 658ft long. So I suppose his tongue is around 658ft... give or take a several feet.

I don't really know the answer but I've been thinking about it... Lathanial is a big chubby dragon so he probably stores it in his gut or something. Big objects tend to have a lower surface area to volume ratio which just means he has alot more room inside of him than outside surface area... I suppose his tongue probably shrinks if not exposed to the atmosphere for awhile, so that'd help to store it in his body. Takes him awhile for him to wake up and get situated though since it'd be slower to get his tongue back in his mouth than to just let it unfurl and hang. He most likely lets it hang or wears it as a scarf or something unless he really needs to hide it from someone.
