depressing?
actually most starbucks I saw i the u.s. sucked, so you should be lucky to have an awesome one!
And it looks different from the outside at least, since it's a really really really old building where the starbucks is in.
What you can't see on the pictures are the couches and comfy chairs btw ;)

They're all basically the same worldwide, ya know. It's not that "great", but I've had worse coffee when experimenting at various bars. At least Sbux is consistent, unlike those other cafes, which can be hit and miss. *Cries over the loss of his favourite cafe nearby*
Oh, and if you're from Houston-so am I!
Sorry for hijacking your comments Henrieke....love the badge!

I noticed big differences between the ones in the U.S. and the ones in Austria. Here we don't have any "fast-food" starbucks, as they have to compete with loads of coffeehouses with a long tradition. So the attempt here is to create a really really nice atmosphere, with comfy couch chairs and Jazz music and really neat interior design. And that's why I love to spend many hours in starbucks :)
Most I've seen in the U.S. were really small and had no comfy chairs that invited for long sketch sessions, that sucked. But I've hardly been downtown anywhere, so there are probably much nicer ones too

Yes; I've seen some nicer ones in busier areas. There was one in San Antonio off of the river walk that was like three stories, and had a music store within as well. The outdoor terrace had a killer view of the river, and the ambiance was quite nice.
And yes, most of the suburban ones suck. Some of em around where I live do have some nicer seating areas, however. It really does depend on the surrounding competition, leased space, etc.
