Vore Tournament 2.0.0 - Download your copy now!
You made this happen! Thank you everyone for your support.
Vore Tournament 2.0.0 is here. The release can be downloaded from Gitlab, and ran using the latest official version of Xonotic. Download VT 2.0.0 for Xonotic 0.8.2 at:
https://gitlab.com/voretournament/d......zip?ref=2.0.0
Installation instructions are located in the data_voretournament repository. For convenience I will list them here as well:
1 - Download and install the latest version of Xonotic from http://xonotic.org You might want to try a vanilla game first, to make sure the base game is working properly.
2 - Download the archive of the latest Vore Tournament release from this repository using the download button provided.
3 - Unpack this archive inside the base Xonotic directory, so that the "data_voretournament-*" directory is sitting next to the "data" directory.
4 - Rename "data_voretournament-*" to "data_voretournament", deleting the extra names and numbers from the directory name.
5 - Launch the Xonotic executable with the parameters "-customgamedirname2 data_voretournament" from the command prompt or a modified shortcut. Example: "xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament".
If you want to enjoy yourself to a fun little video before giving it a try, here's the official release clip I put together last week, which briefly shows footage from both the old and new game:

They shouldn't be, and from my tests on a fresh install they work fine. Do they work in-game (pressing E to eat or F to feed yourself)? If so it might be a visual issue affecting only the menu, which I should get looked up if so... or if you've previously played Xonotic or the development version of VT, some settings might have gotten messed up locally.
It's good to keep in mind the structure: When you run vanilla Xonotic, it uses only the "data" directory and creates a directory with the same name in your settings. When you launch Vore Tournament however, it first loads "data" then "data_voretournament" (hence why the exe requires that parameter), and once again does the same in the user settings. This means that if you set a cvar in Xonotic, but that cvar isn't explicitly overridden by Vore Tournament, it will have the value Xonotic has set.
This shouldn't however cause the problem you mentioned, as VT does override the key binds. Something probably got messed up somewhere, but I can't think of what it is.

Bah, I feel computer illiterate. I can't seem to get it to read the vore tournament data. I'm pretty sure I've got the folder in the right place, but I can't seem to figure out the "command prompt" or "Modified shortcut". Renaming the shortcut didn't seem to do it, and I apparently don't understand how to use command prompt.
Please keep in mind I no longer have Windows, thus I don't remember the exact steps for editing shortcuts. I only know you make a shortcut to the exe file (control + shift + left-click drag it), right-click it and select Properties, then you should find an application target field which references xonotic.exe: Simply add the parameters after that exe and it should work! You will know it works by seeing the VT specific loading screen, instead of the one that says Xonotic. Hope this is helpful.
Solution 1 - Find the Xonotic settings directory, which for Windows should be in a Saved Games folder somewhere in your user settings. Delete the directories "data" and "data_voretournament" from there; The engine will make new ones and you will have fresh settings.
Solution 2 - Find the inputs panel in the settings window of the main menu. Scroll all the way to the bottom, and you should find the vore commands there under a "custom keybinds" section, simply remap them there. I believe the defaults are: E = eat, F = feed self, Q = regurgitate, G = digest.

ok... so make the shortcut of the game ( xonotic)
right click the shortcut and click properties it should lead you to a window with some tabs... under the icon it should say target... change the ending from "xonotic.exe" to "xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament"
i think that will work

I'm having trouble with the last bootup step. I can open the console, but it won't accept those commands to run the game with your directory, but I also can't find the way to open the command prompt for booting it up either separately. The executable just boots the entire game on it's own.
Actually, regarding these instructions for creating the shortcut...
When you add the parameters it simply comes up with an error which is as follows:
Problem with Shortcut
The name X:\Xonotic\xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and filename are correct.
I don't get it since the instructions tell me to do this, but it breaks the whole thing as a result where I can't even confirm the new parameters.
I'm using this on a Windows OS btw but that shouldn't be an issue. Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong? All the previous steps have been done, just this step 5 for some reason.

I have no idea why it would be doing that, and it sounds like a weird Windows issue. I use Linux for half a decade now, haven't messed around with Windows in ages. Someone must be able to come up with a solution though, other users got it working without encountering this issue.
Well I wish one of those people would be kind enough to supply some instructions to get everything working. I know steps 1-4 are perfect, just step 5.
I think the problem is you can't really add that parameter to the shortcut since it actually needs to exist beforehand... but because it doesn't exist to begin with it simply breaks step 5 as a result. Sounds pretty weird now I've said that, but oddly enough sounds correct as well. It's the only thing I can think of that'd be causing this problem.
Oh well, hopefully someone might have an answer for this, but until then... sadly I'll have to pass on VT 2.0 which is a shame since I was looking forward to playing it.

You must first create a normal shortcut to the exe, then edit its properties to modify the targeted file and add the parameters at the end. Anyway some people suggested that using "" in the right place might work, so please try the following options as well:
"xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
"xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 "data_voretournament"
"xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
"xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 "data_voretournament"
Now we're getting somewhere! The shortcut accepted the top option you provided and Xonotic booted up with Vore Tournament data running alongside the base game. The " actually made a big difference. :)
I only did a little test but so far everything seems to be working. I'll be playing around with over the next few days testing everything out so I'll give you a review later.
Just a quick question though. Aside from the new player models do any of the other objects in the game have different models like the old VT? I do remember the health items had food themed models instead of the traditional med-pack models, just curious.

It's weird... some Windows users seem to only be able to get it working like that. Will need to keep this in mind for updated instructions later.
The 2.0.0 release only adds the vore system and appropriate player models; Some model and sound replacements are planned for 2.1.0, but I'll need to decide on what exactly I will change and how.

Fair enough. At least everything's running now... minus a few bugs here and there of course but that's to be expected since this isn't a final release.
Speaking of bugs... I've played around with the game enough to discover a few that may not be "intentional" bugs. XD
An example, if you end up getting eaten while submerged in water, you'll actually take damage from drowning, not from digesting... or, you know, both if you're feeling mean. I was experimenting with what the AI can do with its various cvars/settings and discovered this by accident. I think I know why this happens though, isn't it because the prey character doesn't actually follow the inside of a pred character? I mean, if you're eaten and digested and eventually "ejected" from your predator you actually jump back to where you were originally eaten. Makes sense.
A more serious bug though. If you plan on playing around with bots make sure you load them in when you start a game and not during a game that started without bots because it kinda breaks the game shortly after... just saying. You can remove bots during a match and bring them back without problems so long as they existed at the start of a game, just... not if you didn't include any bots at the start of a game. I tested this a few times and I'm able to get a consistent crash by repeating the same actions so that may be something to look into. If I were to guess it's probably something to do with external assets (aka vore tournament) since doing this in vanilla Xonotic doesn't crash the game. And yes, I used to play Xonotic a lot... fun game. :P
Sorry for the wall of text, but thought I'd mention these things, especially the bug with loading bots into a game that doesn't start with bots just in case. Don't suppose there's a way to send bug reports or something similar when needed? It's a bit tricky for things like the water glitch, but for game crashes it'd be pretty handy.

I can't prevent drowning while underwater via the mutator hooks, at least as far as I'm aware... therefore I'm not sure if I can fix this.
I have not seen the problem where you teleport back to where you were originally eaten, upon being regurgitated. If that's happening, it's definitely a weird bug that must be fixed.
I've added and removed bots during a game without seeing any issues. No idea about the problem you are mentioning there.
And it's nice to see another Xonotic player, who was around before the new VT It's okay, even though I hate long texts; It's useful that those bugs are being reported... though on a side note you can also use the bug tracker if you have a Gitlab account.

Well I've spent more time playing around with VT and much to my own surprise I can't actually replicate both the loading bots crash glitch and the teleporting back to original spot of being eaten glitch... so I probably wouldn't worry too much about those two for the time being. I'm starting to wonder if it were a "me" issue, after all I did change some of the cvars around in the original Xonotic before I added Vore Tournament on top of it so that might have caused an issue.
I can still very easily create the drowning glitch though. I'm actually curious if you're able to replicate it yourself so I'll leave a few little steps as to what I did to trigger it. It's not a serious glitch but it's something of interest, so think of this as a fun vorish experiment! :)
Anyway here's what I did...
1: Make sure that auto-digest is off. If it isn't you can always stop digesting your prey at the press of a key, either that or eat an ally. Whatever of these options work for you so long as you don't digest your prey.
2: Make sure that the prey in question is completely underwater and thus can drown.
3: Devour said prey while they're still underwater and then return to dry land.
4: Despite being away from the water the prey should eventually start taking damage regardless as if drowning and, when their death message appears, it should show their cause of death being drowning.
You could do this with a human player or just some bots. It's obviously easier with a willing human player but if you're trying it with bots it's probably best to do it on the "Solarium" stage as there's plenty of water. I actually disabled kicking and bot weapons for this to make it easier (so the bots don't fight back or try to escape), then I simply ate a bot, brought myself (and it) into deep water, then spat it out so that it was completely underwater, then ate it again before leaving the water. It produces the same drowning result.
As for Xonotic in general, I used to play quite a bit of it back then. Who wouldn't? It was a free game, played like the old Unreal Tournament games which I was quite fond of and was fun to customize with the various cvar settings which allowed for some very unique (and sometimes hilarious) game play. What's not to like about it? Also, grapple hook and bunny hops for the win. XD

The drowning bug comes as no surprise; It happens because the Xonotic code doesn't have any understanding of the vore system... the vore code runs on top of it, so it always has to tell Xonotic what to do in every specific circumstance. The vore mutator sets each player's gravity to make them heavy when there's a full belly, it sets the alpha to make prey invisible when hidden... however as far as drowning goes, I'm not aware of any way to prevent it! Unless of course there is a drowning timer exposed as a player variable, in which case I can keep resetting each frame for prey. I'll open a bug report for this to remind myself to check, and perhaps I'll bring this up with the Xonotic developers if I come empty handed.
Actually had a browse through the other issues to see if there was anything new that could be mentioned... but I haven't found any new bugs so it's all good.
I did discover a rather comical trick you could do though, it's related to being able to fire your weapons inside a predator. Not sure if you're aware of it but I had to bring it up as it made me laugh.
If you enable the grappling hook mutator you can actually still use it while inside your predator. What happens is you'll (sometimes) shoot out a hook straight through the stomach of your predator! It's not exactly easy to do but with a little bit of playing around with different angles (better to do it in 3rd person) I actually managed to latch onto the walls and ceiling and pull both myself and predator around the environment. I even tried latching onto another character and it worked, pulling both the predator and other character together... whether they wanted to be together or not! XD
I never actually thought about using some of the base mutation options alongside the mod before so I gave it a go, the thought of being able to hang from the roof with a grappling hook and drop down on someone unaware sounded like fun. I'm going to experiment with some of the other mutators (like the jet-pack for example) and see how that might affect things. Still, I kinda like the grappling hook trick... could actually be a really fun (and hilarious) feature.

Shooting weapons inside is intended, though the current way of handling this is unsatisfactory and will need to be changed later. I was not aware of the hook issue however, as I assumed the hook was being removed like all other projectiles... added this to the bug tracker, thank you for reporting!

Okay, don't hate me but I think I have a few more things you might want to know. Don't worry, this will probably be the last list of stuff I'll have for you since I think I've almost tested everything. Anyway, here goes...
There were instances where it was not possible to eat another character, even if they were much smaller than you. After playing around with a few things I know why. I believe it actually has something to do with the armour of your character, not the health. I did an experiment where I force fed myself to a stationary bot. First I did so with my default health/armour (100 each) and was devoured. I then extended my health but not my armour, still got devoured instantly like the first situation. When I extended my armour however I could not be eaten until it dropped below 100, no matter what my health was at the time. That probably explains why you don't always get eaten even when the progress bar is full, even when your health is as low as 25... so long as your armour is higher than 100 you won't get eaten (you'll still take damage though and either lose enough armour to get eaten, move far enough away or simply die from losing all your health). I'm able to replicate these results all the time.
I think this might actually cause Issue #9 (Pred progress occasionally remains stuck) but don't quote me on that. Still... considering the circumstances it could be possible. I attempted to devour a bot that had armour above 100 but very low health. I filled up my pred progress bar but obviously couldn't get the bot in my character's stomach because of their armour. They continued to take damage but died before I ate them due to losing all their health, which did glitch out my pred progress sometimes. I would recommend testing this yourself and see if you can replicate these results.
Another thing. You're still probably solving the issue with weapons being fired inside predators (Issue #6). I should bring up one particular weapon since it works very differently to the other weapons... the musical instruments. You can easily access these by enabling all weapons in the mutator settings for a new match. This weapon is (not joking) a musical instrument that you play with the primary/secondary fire keys, change the pitch by moving while "playing" the instrument and can change said instrument with the reload key. This "weapon" doesn't hurt allies but does damage enemies, but rather than harm enemies with projectiles it instead damages any foe that's within a set radius around you when you play the instrument. It doesn't matter where your victim is, so long as they're close enough they'll take damage since it damages enemies in a radius around you rather than with, well, bullets. Because of how it works I thought I'd mention this as it might be important information to know since it works differently from every other weapon in the game. It's probably one weapon you might want to play a game with and see what it does for yourself... not to mention it's fun hurting enemies with a trumpet for some reason. I'm guessing the reason I get shot out of predators is because I keep playing a "brown note" all the time! XD
Anyway I played around with a few more mutators to see if any might be an issue. The jetpack was one that concerned me but thankfully doesn't seem to cause any issues. If you use the jetpack while inside a predator you simply stay put, you don't move your predator around at all so that's fine. Other than that... I think everything else is good. Hopefully this wasn't too taxing a read, just thought some of this might be useful.

That is a feature and intentional; If you have over 100 armor, you can't be fully swallowed. The crosshair indicator turns yellow to indicate this.
That is the Tuba, a secret mutator weapon which isn't normally part of a default game. From what you're describing, it works as intended.
Thanks for all the testing! I didn't actually consider the jetpack, but glad to hear it works fine.

Good news about Issue#9 (Pred progress occasionally remains stuck)!
It actually is linked to the armor feature. If you attempt to eat someone whose armor is above 100 they'll start taking damage to both health and armor. But if their health drops to 0 BEFORE their armor drops below 100 they'll die but not enter your stomach... which can actually break the pred progress bar. I just read your description of issue#9 and it sounds exactly like what I've been able to replicate constantly.
I'd recommend trying this yourself. Set the default armor level high and max health low and attempt to eat some bots (mindless ones that don't fight back preferably). It should be easy to replicate the bug so long as your prey dies from loss of health before losing enough armor and being eaten. The pred progress bar should become stuck until you attempt to eat someone else. If there's a way to fix this bug this would be a good place to begin.
Also been playing around with the default maps... though every so often the game does crash without a clear reason. It does seem to do so more frequently on certain maps and never on others, though I can't really say too much else on the matter, need to do more testing before I can give a more clear verdict about this as it could just be a coincidence and the problem is something else entirely. Other than that I can't seem to find any more bugs, or at the very least possible leads to resolving the current ones.
Anyway hope I haven't chewed your ear off yet as I might have more stuff to talk about later. XD

Noted your observation on the bug in cause. Thank you for taking the time to test and replicate this!
The engine crashing can be due to many things, from a driver issue to rare specific circumstances in the game. Try a few games of vanilla Xonotic and see if that still does it, if so it's likely a core issue and should be reported to the Xonotic team.

That's a good idea. I was thinking of playing both vanilla and VT Xonotic just to see if something wasn't working properly. I think Vanilla Xonotic is working fine since I used to play it for hours at a time and not have it crash even once, and that includes stuffing around with the cvars as well. Still I'll test it regardless.
I'll set all the cvars to the default settings and play Xonotic and all its maps several times repeatedly, then I'll do the same for VT and see what happens, the hardest part will be finding the time to do so since I kinda have to work some days (that's adulthood for you). Obviously it'll be a good while before I reply back with results so there's a good chance you might have a new version out before then. Still I'll record my tests and get back to you when I'm done. Any little bit of information could help in fixing issues.
I, err, might also just start a new comment instead of replying to this one again. Don't know about you but this train of comments is looking a little... scrunched and/or squished on the right side of the screen because of how FA displays said comment trains. XD
Anyway stay tuned for future test results on the engine crashing.

Im going to be honest here, the game is incredibly hard and the bots are near unbeatable as the player you get turned around 180 facing away from the bots whenever you get near them where as the bots do not face this issue meaning its near impossible to vore them while they can easily do so unless your extremely good at flailing your mouse around while being bigger as your vore load circle gets reset when your faced away from them while the bots do not face this issue, another issue is that the bots are always camping at the max health pickup spawn which leads to another issue with them always being bigger making it even harder to defeat them
Bots are meant to be hard at maximum skill level; They might have the ability to aim instantly since they use math rather than a mouse, but they aren't as intelligent and capable of taking smart choices as a real person... thus things sort of compensate for one another. Just set the skill slider in the Create menu lower, somewhere in the first half... not at 0 (Botlike) since that disables the vore AI altogether.
There are no clothed versions of the official player models, but all custom models are SFW. Visit https://gitlab.com/voretournament and clone each repository beginning in "vmdl" inside your C:\blablabla\Xonotic\data folder; They should then appear in the character selection screen, but you'll need force them or use a custom bots.txt file if you want other characters to use them too.
My mistake: I forgot this is for the release and not development, so you probably aren't using Git cloning software. Just open each "vmdl" repository, and Gitlab should offer you a download button to get it as an archive; Extract that archive in the mentioned directory, remove any numbers from the directory name (it has to end in "pk3dir"), then it will show up.
hmm.... anyone figure out how to get this running on a mac? despite all attempts otherwise, nothing seems to be working. I can get the base game running in Terminal, but when I try to run it with the parameters I just crash with some issue with the xonotic-osx-sdl-bin file or am I typing in the wrong set up? ( I used ' open -a Xonotic.app --args -(parameters above)
Technically, not really. However, if you really wish to get them back and are willing to do some fiddling, but note that it might be a bit complicated:
Download the latest version of Nexuiz (old Xonotic), who's maps is what Vore Tournament used. Extract the maps directory from whatever pk3 (zip) archive they're located in under the data directory, and copy this maps directory inside the data directory of Xonotic. Xon has a package called NexCompatPack, which is used to allow Nexuiz maps to still run on modern day Xonotic... so technically this might work!

Oh, sorry about that; Basically play it like any FPS, shoot at enemies and pick up health + armor + weapons & ammo... then as far as vore goes, press E to eat enemies when standing close to and looking at them (the crosshair should turn into the round ! icon when you can do that).
I understand that much but there appears to be much other things going on and it's all happening so fast. I'm just trying to figure it out through trial and error. Like, I hit Q and puked up someone I think? I also don't know what causes certain things to happen. What buttons to push if eaten. If shooting inside a belly does anything. I think something happens that causes you to lose weapons in certain situations? I'd just like a how to play guide or something. ^.-,^"
The vore specific keys are: E = eat, F = feed yourself (opposite of eat), Q = regurgitate, G = digest. Shooting weapons in the belly does only a tiny amount of damage currently, that might change in the future but for now it's fixed. Dropping your weapon when getting eaten is probabilistic, sometimes you'll keep it sometimes it will drop.
A guide might happen later; It will take a bit of work, I'm not even sure how to present it, whereas assets and functionality are still subject to change.

Not a bug; They're shooting a projectile weapon in your stomach, in case they haven't dropped it upon getting eaten. The way this is currently handled is very ugly though, and I actually just finished opening an issue about finding a better way: https://gitlab.com/voretournament/d.....ament/issues/6
Messed around with this. Couple things I noticed:
Regurgitating prey seems to have odd effects. I think it's caused by putting them at 50% swallow on release, which causes the "autoswallow" to kick in and makes you swallow the prey you just regurgitated again.
I also tested things with two session ids on the same machine, and that had some odd effects, namely one screen had more models than normal visible upon devouring. That might be an issue on Xonotic's side though.

Noticed this too, but wasn't sure whether to consider it a bug or an unintended feature; If the prey is small enough compared to the predator (micro / macro difference), the swallow speed exponent is so strong that prey will automatically be swallowed back immediately upon being regurgitated. Technically this is more correct, as you'd get to a point where the prey is so helpless even the pred can't let them out if they wanted. I don't know if I can or should change this in the future, it remains to be seen.
I would classify that as more of a bug than a unintended feature. If the player tries to regurgitate a prey then they expect the prey to be able to leave their belly, no matter what the size.
Don't forget that this used to have an RPG mode, and I remember having fun RPing and messing around with this game. It would be a shame to lose that portion of the game's enjoyability.
On a related note, I do miss features like being able to turn on gentle vore, being able to press space to leave an ally's belly, and being able to toggle where or not you start automatically digesting prey when you eat them.

Toggling automatic digestion still works, I ported the client setting which allows disabling that. As for gentle vore, you now enable that by turning off g_vore_digestion on the server.
Fixing the forced re-swallowing might be hard, since it's caused by simple math that affects the current swallow parameters. I'll need to think of some smart way of doing this.

Opened an issue about this for the time being: https://gitlab.com/voretournament/d.....ament/issues/4
See the comments above or the end of this thread: https://aryion.com/forum/viewtopic......79&t=24681 You basically make a shortcut to the exe then edit that shortcut to add the parameters.
So I've come across a strange problem where all the models of characters are appearing transparent except when they're in the air it started of fine then after a couple of matches was when this problem started. Any idea what could have caused this? And a possible fix?
Edit: should clarify in case it helps its only the character models themselves and the weapons the stomach and mouth models are fine
Edit: should clarify in case it helps its only the character models themselves and the weapons the stomach and mouth models are fine
I've run into an issue where, on occasion, certain bots lose the ability to fully consume you and you end up perpetually staring out the throat model until either the bot puts in some distance, or you move away by holding down space so that you move using 50 micro-hops per second. I'm not sure what causes it, as everything is usually moving quite fast, even with lower difficulty and dumber bots.
Not a bug; This was a feature suggested by friend, which I liked so I decided to implement it. Basically if you have over 100 armor, you can be swallowed all the way into the throat but cannot make it to the stomach... this is shown by the crosshair indicator and ring being yellow (red = can't swallow, yellow = can only partly swallow, green = can fully swallow).
Keys confuse me quite a bit. Still haven't managed to eat anyone. Is there some sort of trick to this? And why do I need keys for both swallow and feed? Am I supposed to feed then swallow, or what?
Also, I know you pointed this out in the comments already, but maybe changing "xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament". To something that explains the whole "Path -xonotic.exe" In quotes, -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament afterward without quotes thing. Because that was what hung me up for a bit.

As for that I do not know; I no longer have Windows, I'm a Linux user exclusively nowadays. This means that unfortunately, I can't personally test each aspect of how Windows handles shortcuts. My instructions are in part based on what other Win users have told me, and what I vaguely remember from my days of using Windows 7.

I get the keys, I just don't get what they do or how they work. for example, what's the difference between eat and feed self? How are these different? Am I supposed to eat and then rapidly press digest? Hold the digest button? Do I hold or press eat/feed self to devour someone? How does this work? Is there a referance I can look at that explains it a bit better?
Also, I'm using Windows 10, and I can attest that I added - "C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Xonotic\xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament - into Properties > Shortcuts > Target to get it to work. But the path, and only the path has to be in quotes, if you put the whole thing in quotes, it doesn't work. The major hiccup I personally had is that your instructions made it look like the entire thing needed to be in quotes, so that was the point of confusion for me.
So, yeah, in short, just a bit of communication confusion. New models are looking nice and I like how things grow and shrink now depending on, it seems like health. But it's hard for me to wrap my head around the mechanics as it stands. Then again, I've only done a few matches.

E and F are opposites: E makes you eat the player you're watching, F makes you be eaten by them. Obviously the later is counter-productive to any game, except team games where you want to be healed... mostly useful for RPG mode and other niche circumstances.
And that's good to know. I might have to try and clarify more about how that shortcut works, but since I don't have Windows I really don't know the specifics.

Ok- I'm a Mac user and it took me a VERY LONG WHILE to get the whole "missing file directory" thing to work when launching the app but I found a method that solves that:
Step 1) Open up Terminal and then open up the Xonotic Folder once it's downloaded.
Step 2) Type/copy-paste in "sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine "/path/to/Xonotic.app"" and replace "/path/to/Xonotic.app" with the typed-in location of the app file minus the " on each side; you can drag the file into the Terminal instead to shorten typing and finding the location of the app. You'll be asked to type in your computer password.
Step 3) type/copy-paste in "xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine "/path/to/Xonotic.app"". Same as before minus the password.
Step 4) Right-click and go into the packaged contents, go into the contents folder then finally go into MacOS- it looks terrifying with the sheer amount of stuff but the next stuff's easy.
Step 5) Type/copy-paste in "sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine "/path/to/Xonotic.app"" and replace "/path/to/Xonotic.app" with the typed-in/dragged-in location of the app file: "xonotic-osx-dl" minus the ".

Step 7) Try opening the app from the original folder; it should work. If not, I'm sorry that this method didn't help; it worked for me when I originally did it.
My only problem is that because the newest mac update doesn't have proper abilities to make shortcut files - they call it alias - as well as edit and add/remove parameters so that I can link the shortcut file to the voretournament files. If anyone can possible help with that part/make somewhat simplified instructions that are able to be understood by persistent, not used to coding people who'd really want to play this game with other friends as well as the game itself, it'd be very greatly appreciated ;w;

That is useful to know, thank you for sharing! I never touched a Mac in my life so there's no way I would know this, but perhaps at some point I will use this info to put together some more specific instructions. It's good to keep in mind that the "customgamedirname2" tag is a simple binary parameter, as a lot of programs allow you to call their executable with an argument (on all platforms)... sadly people never get to interact with this sort of thing as much, outside of Linux and development environments.
Ok- I tried a semi-creative way of doing it by putting Xonotic onto my Steam so that I could edit the launch options from there but that didn't woke- at least the method I tried which was adding "Xonotic.app -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament" to the launch options so that won't work; gonna keep tryin' tho!
I've managed to find a different way of opening Xonotic through Terminal; I use "open -a Xonotic.app --args customgamedirname2 data_voretournament" in the terminal and I managed to open up the game but I wasn't lucky and it only opened up the game with no Vore Tournament; same goes for adding '-' to the beginning of customgamedirname2; I'm probably being an idiot and I was meant to link something there- I'm a simple-minded person and I'm not completely sure about what I'm doing but I hope I'm making some progress
Just wondering, is it possible to make this a server mod? I've played a couple games with my friends online on Xonotic and we found out that the server makes us automatically download the content for the mods that are on the server; my friend is able to make servers but we're trying out now at the current time of this post if we can possibly mod the server with the Vore Tournament stuff but we can't really do any editing of the sort =w=;; But we're gonna try since we're all interested in Vore Tournament!
Just launch the dedicated exe with the same parameters; Mod folders work exactly the same way for servers and clients alike. If they're connecting to a VT configured server from a VT configured client, they shouldn't have to download anything. If you mean custom mods, those need to be hosted and downloaded separately... for now modding VT is a bit more complicated, so other than custom maps I'd suggest issuing pull requests for mainstream VT if you make any useful changes.
Okay im at a lose here
I got all the stuff worked out so far. I see the VT-Loading Screen, i get anthros in my Matches, see the keybindings for vore in the Option and could change the vore related values in the advanced Settings. But neither the bots nor i am able to perfom a vore

If you press and hold the "i" key during a match, what do you see in the mutator string? You should be able to eat players by pressing E, or feed yourself to them by pressing F... bots themselves will only try to eat you if the skill slider is above 0, so make sure to pop that up a bit.
Okay... it should be saying "vore" and "micro / macro". If you're seeing the VT loading screen, the game code should be loading too... I cannot explain why it isn't in this case.
If you open the console with the ~ key, type in g_vore and press enter, what value does it say?
If you open the console with the ~ key, type in g_vore and press enter, what value does it say?
Okay. I'm a little lost for words then; If you're seeing the VT loading screen, you're using the data_voretournament directory accordingly... however if that cvar is enabled and "vore" doesn't show in the mutator string, it's probably not using the game code files from that directory.
The only explanation I can think of would be an incomplete download. Do you have all the files listed below in data_voretournament? If not then try downloading the archive again, make sure all of it has downloaded successfully, then unpack data_voretournament and try again.

if they should be directly within the Folder vore_tournament and not in some subfolder then i guess you might be right that i have an incomplete download for whatever reason
In Addition i just checked again....
I downloaded the files from this page...

And if im not missing anything then the files you mention aren't included in the download

Are you sure you're downloading the right archive? You must use the 2.0.0 link in the description, not the download button as that offers the latest version of master which intentionally doesn't have the game code.

I'm working on 2.0.1 which will be a bugfix release, and will hopefully happen within the next few months. The code runs on top of Xonotic, so it needs to be updated regularly to stay up to date with the upstream code... whereas of course I plan to add many new changes and features over time!
Hey there, sorry if I'm bothering you or being an idiot, but I just downloaded the file and xonotic game, but it still won't let me use the vore tournament mod. I did everything according to the instructions, but don't know if I did step 5 right.
I renamed the shortcut target as F:\Games\xonotic-0.8.2\Xonotic\xonotic.exe "-customgamedirname2 "data_voretournament" (note this is on a flashdrive containing the vore tournament and xonotic game files, connected to my PC that's running windows 10).
I also tried renaming it with the parenthesis as mentioned in the comments before, but it would still just log on to the normal game.

Go into the input menu and assign E to "eat" and F to "feed" at the bottom of the inputs list, or delete your data directory from the user settings (NOT the Xonotic installation) which should be called Saved Games on Windows.

I made the instructions as clear as I could for a written tutorial: Basically just download and unpack Xonotic, download and unpack data_voretournament in it, then run xonotic.exe with a few parameters. Let me know exactly what you get stuck on if this isn't working for you.

I hate to pester you at this hour, but can I get some help
It's okay... though I was asleep at the time, just woke up and saw this. From the second screenshot I can see you're indeed launching vanilla Xonotic. The shortcut looks okay, I'm not quite sure why it's doing that. Remember that if you're using Windows 10, it might expect the "" symbols to be formatted differently, as other users have reported. Try all of the following formats:
xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 "data_voretournament"
"xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
"xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 "data_voretournament"
xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 "data_voretournament"
"xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
"xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 "data_voretournament"
this is the main directory: https://imgur.com/a/58qBz10
and this is the voretournament directory: https://imgur.com/K9vDtSd
i gave you both to see if it was something in the VT directory that might be messing things up for me (and by extension anyone else having the same problems) is there something else you need me to show you?

Everything looks fine. I'm very confused: There should be no way for it not to be loading the mod directory! I'll need to think, this is the first time I've ever heard of this.
Hmmm... unless it is starting it up? I believe in the 2.0.0 release I didn't rebrand the menu logo. Please start up a match and check if you see the anthro characters: We need to confirm that the actual game isn't using the VT mutators and assets.

anyway, it works i musta assumed it was vanilla xonotic because there wasnt an alternative title screen or something, you think that maybe in a future build, could you include some kind of menu skin to prevent confusion like this somewhere down the line? i recall there was a menu skin in an older build
Running it from command prompt doesn't put anything in the console log. Here's what I got from the troubleshooter.

I have instructions in the data repository. Currently that is the best I can do, especially since I no longer use Windows at all. The only tricky part is editing the properties of a shortcut to add those parameters... I don't know if for 2.0.1 I can include pre-made shortcuts to fix this, namely as Windows link files are binary thus I'd have to generate relative links with a Win app.
It's unlikely we'll find many servers at this stage. I could make one, but I'm running the Git development version and am not sure if users running release will be able to connect. I'd also wait for 2.0.1 (currently on hold until Xonotic 0.8.3 is finally released) as it will feature a lot of important fixes.
How does the Vaporizer weapon work with the mod? It seems to work differently from the original Xonotic game, implementing the vore aspect into the gameplay more, but I can's seem to figure out how it works. Maybe it does work exactly the same, I've never really played the original. I'm just stuck on the vaporizer level in single player.
In VT, weapons are set to only deal damage down to 100 HP. If you could still kill players with guns, the vore system would have no purpose. I don't know if I will change this by default, but there is a cvar to disable this behavior if you want to allow Xonotic like gameplay in addition to vore.
Ok. I'm a bit confused on the vore controls. The keybinds were blank when I first launched the game (though that took me a bit to notice). I set them to some keys that felt comfortable (swallow=shift; digest=E; vorefeed=Q; regurgitate=F) They seem to be working fine. Although I have always been a bit confused on how exactly manual digestion works in VT. I tried it in the first game and in this one by entering the console command, but I just can't get the hang of it. I just use automatic digestion. However, I have no idea what the "vorefeed" ability does. I have been pressing the key throughout the game to try and figure it out, but I 've had no success so far.
Ah. Which version of Windows? I stopped using it 8 years ago, I no longer know how the latest version of the OS works. I remember however that you would create a shortcut by doing a Control + Shift + Left-Click Drag on the icon of the exe file. You need one to edit its properties and add that parameter, which I'm hoping is fixed in 2.0.1 where I will include my own launcher.
Okay. See if articles like this help:
https://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Sh.....t-on-Windows-8
Remember you need to add that parameter in the field pointing to the engine, so it's at the end of the place that ends in "xonotic.exe".

Glad you got it to work. I tried to simplify a few things in the development version, hoping 2.0.1 will be easier to run.
Not many servers as of yet: Still a very new project. If you want to play a game, I recommend letting others know and asking them to make a server together.

Ah heh, I have no idea how to do any of that stuff, I just figured I’d try to get the name out a little to help it grow.
Only complaint I really have is that I was a little confused with the vore, I always kinda feel like I’m just doomed to die without a chance to escape.
*also being a strict pred I always get a lil spooked TwT”*

Hi. Please wait for VT 2.0.1, which is going to be released in the upcoming months. I see that Xonotic is running but Vore Tournament is causing an engine crash: This is likely due to some experimental performance settings I chose to enable in the last release, which cause a crash on some video drivers... it was a mistake on my end and I've now reverted them.
If you wish to try fixing the current version, create an autoexec.cfg file and manually set the bad settings back to zero. You can see what they are in this commit:
https://gitlab.com/voretournament/d.....08152be2892c3f
set r_batch_dynamicbuffer 0
set r_batch_multidraw 1
set r_sortentities 0
set r_glsl_skeletal 0
set gl_vbo_dynamicindex 0
set gl_vbo_dynamicvertex 0

Been meaning to give this a good try for a while and as i easily expected I loved it. I just randomly came across a yt'er showing it off but wasn't doing a 1v1.
I really love the work on the first person belly and the hands coming around the face when you've being vored.
instructions simple got it working in no time. drag drop folder, rename it, copy paste the original games exe to make a shortcut then add that bit on the Target.
if anything it had taken me longer to figure out the weapons :P whats this? ahh a form of sniper rifle, a grenade launcher, shotgun very doomish!

I believe that's Lue in the comment above: He recently did a short stream of VT 2.0.0
I'm glad you had no trouble getting it to run: A lot of people had issues with editing that shortcut to add the parameters. The next release will include a launcher script which will hopefully solve that problem too.

I have everything working properly, however I had to reset the key bindings as I screwed up the normal controls. In doing so, the custom key bindings got deleted. How do you fix this? The controls are numbered at the bottom and I don't know which ones they were either. Thanks in advance!
Just downloaded this again on a new computer, everything works great but for some reason the swallow mechanic won’t work? I did bind all the vore commands like swallow, regurgitate and such. And even when I press those it even says ‘nothing to digest/regurgitate’ etc.. but whenever I try to swallow it never works? Any possible ideas? :0
I'm unsure about the "start /b" part. Please try all of the following combinations just to be safe:
"C:\users\monty\desktop\xonotic\xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
"C:\users\monty\desktop\xonotic\xonotic.exe" -customgamedirname2 "data_voretournament"
C:\users\monty\desktop\xonotic\xonotic.exe -customgamedirname2 data_voretournament
Note that as of 2.0.1 you should no longer need to launch manually: Just click on ...\xonotic\data_voretournament\voretournament-windows.cmd and that should start it.

So basically I'm kinda stuck with getting the vore tournament data to run in xonotic, it just launches the regular game, so basically where I'm at is I have both xonotic and the vore tournament downloaded, I move vore tournament into the xonotic folder and it is below data, I edited the name for it just like it was said in the description, and now I'm lost. It keeps launching the regular xonotic game and so I looked into the comments and saw how I needed to edit the properties of the shortcut of xonotic, so I dragged xonotic.exe out of files onto my desktop, made a shortcut from there, and am stuck on the editing the properties part. Some of the things I input to edit it just pop up with an error, and some of them work but when I launch it from the shortcut it pulls up a black screen with a bunch of words and a way to input commands, no game. Please help me.
Please see the other comments above in this submission and the one for 2.0.1. This was discussed several times, typically it's about getting the right directory name location and command line parameter. I can't help more especially as I don't use Windows and am no longer working on VT until further notice.
Hey, I'm sorry to bother you again, but I have looked through the comments and its stuff I've already tried. No matter what I type for the parameters it just pops up with an error or accepts it, but when I try and start it from there then it says "you have reached this menu due to missing or unlocatable content/data" Again, sorry for me being dumb with all of this, but I seriously just cant get it to work. Idk what else I can describe my problem by but I'm sure you don't have many ways to help me. I have windows 10, all the steps have worked up until the parameters part, and I've tried all parameters in the past comments but nothing is working. If I still can't fix this, then I'm just gonna have to accept my defeat due to my lack of knowledge. Thanks for being fast with help btw.
Please see the instructions and other comments here for running, most issues were already discussed in the past. Once you're in check the keybinds for actions, in the latest version I believe you use the attack keys while standing close to another player and looking at them. Please note the project is now abandoned due to some issues that happened in team Xonotic and I can only provide limited support from memory, thanks for understanding.
Long dead due to the Darkplaces engine and Xonotic projects being taken over by psychopaths. Sorry that it's not possible to have any good things in this world. If I'm alive for long enough and the opportunity shows up, there's a very small chance I could create a VT 3.0 in some other engine... for now there are no such plans.
