“I always knew you were rotten to the core, and now I’m going to take you down!” the lioness growled as she launched a flurry of punches and kicks at the smirking cat in front of her.
“Not this time I’m afraid,” the feline teased as she effortlessly dodged the attacks. “You still haven’t learned to mind your surroundings.” With that she grabbed the lioness by the wrist, and in quick succession she lifted her up over her head and slammed her face first into a cannon. With another kick, the barrel dropped to the side and shot her target into a wall with a messy splatter.
“KO!”
Janet looked up from her phone and seethed, “A bloody cannon shot into a wall? Oh give me a break, you’ve GOT to be cheating now!”
“Not at all. That level has environmental interactions if you press the right combo near them,” Cassandra giggled as she took a sip from her drink. “That particular one requires a parry with an overhead throw.”
“That’s still cheating in my book! Not the other kind of cheating, but still cheating!” Janet furiously swiped across the list of characters before choosing a new fighter. “That last one sucked, I’ll beat you with this guy for sure.”
Janet and Cassandra soon began another match on their phones, tapping and swiping across the screen in what was to them a fight for the ages. The two even seemed completely oblivious to the cheetah sitting on the opposite side of the DSI breakroom, eyeing them with an amused grin as she watched Janet lose match after match against the new contract manager. As the door to the breakroom opened, she gave a polite nod to the grey wolfess that walked in.
“Hard at work honing her tactical skills I see,” Erica sighed as she looked over at Janet as the lioness was furiously growling again.
“Well if that’s what she’s doing,” Nia giggled as she stood up and tossed her lunch wrappers in the trash, “I think she probably needs to spend more time doing so. I haven’t seen her beat Cassandra once. Poor Janet is convinced she’s cheating somehow.”
“Oh really?” the wolfess noted with a raised brow. Moving out of the way as Nia left the room to return to her desk, Erica cleared her throat, instantly drawing both ladies attentions. “When you have a chance Janet I need you to call and reschedule my three o’clock meeting. Development on their project is taking a little longer than expected.”
“Yeah boss, right away,” Janet said as she quickly stood up. Shooting a quick glare down at Cassandra she muttered, “This isn’t over yet,” before hurrying out of the room.
“I do enjoy her competitiveness, makes the game so much more fun,” Cassandra beamed as Erica walked over to get a cup of coffee. “Anything I can help with for that client?”
“Munitions testing isn’t exactly your specialty,” the wolfess replied as she poured a cup. Seeing Cassandra’s ‘fair enough’ shrug, she added, “I seemed to have missed out on some of your fun. Apparently Janet was convinced you were cheating at your game.”
Now Cassandra had a devilish little smirk on her face and she let out a snort, “Actually, I was.” When Erica gave her a glare she giggled some more, “I gave her character double HP and I still wiped the floor with her. Don’t mention that though, she’s fun to play with.”
Erica rolled her eyes before sitting down next to Cassandra. Pulling out her own phone, she showed the feline that she had the same app as well. “Curtesy of Janet earlier this month. Care to try your luck?”
