Demon Parasites - Make way for the Queen
Commission for
Balina
Queens, like succubats, retain their old memories and personality. The parasite just works to corrupt them to love their hive. Queens have eternal life, and can control what types of parasites they create and send out.
The queens grow along side their hives, becoming physically larger the older and older they get.
What queens can't control though, is their appetite, and it won't stop. Ever.

All Succubat and Queen hosts keep their memories and personalities. The parasites corrupt them to be loyal to the hive and queen. How they feel about unconverted friends, family, and civilians in general, is up to how their morality interacts with hive loyalty.
Also remember that "Add your friends and family to the hive" is an option. And your friends and family might want you and all your new loved ones dead.

This is like finding out your friend is 'happy' having a chronic flu and depression, and you can fix it! It would help literally everyone if you fix it. They'll still be the person you love, but healthy mentally and physically! It's better for them, and better for your hive, and everything. How you handle this depends on you
Ahh, got ya =p
Personally, if any of mine characters were queen'd (I do plan on commissioning once I finally have enough money!) they'd uniformly never use crown crabs, not a fan of the total erasure aspect XD Just making their entire cliques into hives, everyone being okay with it, consensual conversion ;P
(On a sillier note I sorta imagined one of the first things Balina here gets her brood to do is get her a bigger phone XD)

Never using, and actively resisting orders to use crown crabs is, in fact, a very normal stance of succubats that are good, or even just like, normal. Especially outside of war.
Queens have the hunger to push them to desperation, but they can resist that with willpower and conviction, Like that's an option for them. You could have a hive where the only crown crabs are like, criminals.

I see! So it really is a desperation measure.
Only using them on convicted criminals facing death anyway sounds like a good idea for a morally conflicted hive =p
I do like this concept a lot, just a little iffy on the free will aspects of it all, but thanks for clearing it up so much! :3

*nods* Makes perfect sense. I was just wondering since this one was 1280X1280 but the other ended up being 1280X512 since they where wide and short. Made the sequencing rather nice and let you incorporate the backgrounds into the storytelling, but the visual area is almost a third the size.
There's an initial surge of contentment, and satisfaction with the change, but the loyalty to the hive can take varying time, assuming they weren't loyal or in favor of the hive from the start.
And doing that would hurt!!! That would be like, ripping off your leg, somehow??? The tail is strong like you are!! You would have the same pain and mental blocks stopping you from damaging them otherwise, as it's already a part of you on a subconscious level.

But wouldn't you remember NOT having those parts of you on your body? Especially if you knew about these creatures beforehand, and knew that they corrupted their victims into wanting them? Couldn't you just fight it and try and either remove it yourself and get someone else to remove it before too much mental rewriting took place?
You're assuming a lot of extra external factors and will power. I'm writing a race, not a main character. People wince at pain. people chicken out from self doubt and guilt. People don't always have a calm friend ready to cut them like a log.
Queens have other things to deal with before anything else. They're starving, and need to fix the starving. Willpower and moral conviction is what lets a queen settle the heck down once they have a steady supply of food.

For real tho, actual advice: Write main characters by understanding the world around them, and how they differ from or align with their world's ideas of normal. The main characters can be as wildly different as you like, but like, you won't learn about dwarves by talking about the one who haters mining and tradition, and decorates everything with art nouveau.
This has been Avery fun series to watch come out and I do like how the hive queen came out.
I know you only showed the succubats, crown crabs, and the queen but with the succubats do they always turn their boasts to females or is it based on what the hive needs from them?
Also would other pleasurable recreations be forbidden or only left to the hive queen if she so wanted to have some fun, in between meals?

Okay, i can see the Succubats and the Crown Crabs sneaking up on people, even dropping from the ceiling or skittering out from behind a box/bag/etc, but....How does This Thing catch someone unaware??? o.O I mean, i just picture the...wolfcow? Huh....anywho, i picture her walking through the room, focused on her phone, and unconsciously ducking, or tilting her head to the side as she walks under this thing, and only if she is Reeeeeeeeally distracted.
