FLAP, FLAP

FLAP, FLAP-FLAP, FWOO, FLAP-FWOO
The sound of loud flapping and wind blowing was soon followed by ghostly images of winged snake-like beasts gliding through the air.
“Dragons!” Filbert growled, as he clenched onto the Saurral Staff tightly.
Seeing that the children were frozen with both fear and curiosity, Emino quickly went about using his powers to pick up and move the kids toward a large, nearby building.
“Ouch, oof!” they cried as they found themselves skipping upon the hard ground.
“No time!” cried the bird psychic. “Everybody get inside, now!”
With no time to think, the kids quickly ran inside the building.
“What about Filbert?” asked Lucky as he scurried toward Emino.
The psychic sorcerer looked out toward the middle of the road and noticed their caped colleague had not moved an inch. However, he was beginning to glow with magical energy and his face told a tale of exactly what he had planned.
“He’s going to distract them,” Emino replied. “Now get inside!”
Emino made his way into the building behind Lucky and quickly rushed to get the children to the safest place he could.
BOOM!
FLAP-FLAP!
BZZT!
FWOOM!
“What’s going on out there?” Lucky asked with a hint of worry.
Emino got up from the corner he was sitting in and stared out the nearby window.
“What do you see?” inquired a very excited Scuttle. The window was way too high up for any of the kids to see through. However, the numerous flashes of light that illuminated the room from it definitely showed everyone that something big was going on outside.
“I’m scared,” cried Fritter as he tightly snuggled against Cappy. The flashes of light were normally followed by a chorus of frightening screeches, explosions, or crashes.
Scared himself, but wanting to be there for his friend, Cappy snuggled into Fritter telling him, “it’s okay, Fritter.”
Emino continued to watch the melee outside, until he suddenly felt a strong tug upon his cloak.
“Yes?” he inquired as he twirled around.
“What’s going on out there?” asked Scuttle.
“Is Filbert okay?” questioned Lucky.
The psychic sorcerer turned to look out the window again, before kneeling in front of the children and saying, “Filbert is currently in battle with the winged beasts.”
“Dragons?” Scuttle inquired with excitement. “Are they dragons?”
Emino nodded as he said, “They appear to be.”
“Awesome!” Scuttle cried as he scurried towards the building’s exit. “I’ve got to see this!”
“Scuttle!” cried Lucky. “Come back!”
Bubble, who had been staying close to Cappy and Fritter, was first to act as she noticed her overly eager friend run in the direction of danger.
“Get back here!” she cried as she took a running leap after him.
PITTA-PATTA-PITTA
SKRIT
“Gotcha!” cried Bubble after taking a few running steps and diving down hard upon Scuttle.
CRA-CRAH-SHH-SKIT-SHH-CRA-SHH!
“Ahh!” the two screamed as a large reptilian head burst through and widened the door they had come in through.
“Stop!” cried Emino while flapping his wings outward to use his psychic sorcery to halt the falling ceiling from crashing down onto the children.
Scuttle and Bubble looked up to see a collection of heavy stones hovering mere inches above their heads that had been shattered from the monster crashing inward.
“Get out of there!” shouted Lucky.
Not wasting any time, Bubble climbed off of Scuttle and the two rushed back toward where Emino and Lucky were standing.
CR-CRUCH!
With the children safe, Emino released his psychic grip on the rocks and allowed them to fall safely upon the floor.
“Is that?” asked Lucky as he looked at the monster’s large head that had burst through the door.
SKISH!
“Rawr!” the beast cried as its head and neck were fiercely yanked back outside.
“It was...” was all Emino could say before a flash of red light burst through the new opening in the wall.
“Filbert’s amazing!” cried Scuttle as he watched Filbert take on an entire army of dragons by himself.
Bubble tapped him on the shoulder as she snapped, “It’s amazing you didn’t get hurt!”
Hoping to keep the kids out of further danger, Emino said, “Perhaps you all should tend to your young friends over there?”
Looking toward the far corner of the room, Lucky, Scuttle, and Bubble could see that Cappy and Fritter were shivering with fear.
“I’m coming, little buddy!” cried Scuttle.
Bubble and Lucky nodded in agreement at one another before following after their eager, and easily distracted, friend.
With the kids now in a safer place, Emino resumed his watch of the battle outside from the window before him.
