Blue Macaw's Logo Bunch #117 - TV Channels #49
Welcome to Part 2 of
The_Zoo_Crew's request on Logo Bunch. On this part, we got both TV channels from different regions that have the same name with logos that last for 10 years, but with different design. The name in question is The Family Channel, a place where families can come together. But they both have more depth in them. Let's start off with the United States version. Now, many of you people know this channel as The Fox Family Channel, many of you know it as ABC Family, and many of you officially know it now as Freeform. But before it became all of that, it was once called The Family Channel (or The CBN Family Channel) from 1988-1998. Around that time, the Christian Broadcasting Network needed a channel to capture more family audiences such as children, pre-teens, and teens. And thus, the rebranding of The CBN Family Channel was born after the CBN Satellite/Cable Network name was diminished. In fact, this is the first time the channel had a name change. Also, the channel shows shows that are related to religion, hence the name, CHRISTIAN Broadcasting Network. In 1997, when The Family Channel was put up for sale, CBN sold it to News Corp's Fox Broadcasting Company, thus making it Fox Family Channel in the next year. Now, on to the logo, as all 80s-Early 90s logos, it's very basic. Although, I do like the cursive Family font. So now you know about the US version, let's move on to the Canadian version. Here in Canada, this version of The Family Channel was launched in the first day of September 1988 as a joint venture between Allarcom Pay TV Ltd. & First Choice, and for a coincidence, it actually kept its name! Now it was owned by DHX Media. It started to air more shows such as shows from YTV and Teletoon, as well as content from Disney Channel, such as the movies and original series. The logo from 1988-1999 seems like it was drawn by a little kid. I'm not saying that it's bad or anything, but it is very creative especially when the channel was targeted to kids and teens. Also, I love the kid's drawing of the sun in the second line of the F. Overall, really great logo even in a toddler's eyes. I guess you can say with thes 2 channels in a different region both named "The Family Channel", you are a one big happy family. Get it? Anyway, join us for Part 3 of
The_Zoo_Crew's request on Logo Bunch. Until next time! If you love this episode and Logo Bunch in general, make sure you give it a thumbs up, leave a comment in the comments section down below, and follow my adventures in Deviantart and FurAffinity.
