I really love being able to bake in our own place. My favorite right now is baking bread. Here's the recipe I use.
Ingredients:
1/4 Ounce active dry yeast.
2 1/4 cup warm water
3 Tbsp Sugar
2 Tbsp Canola oil
1 Tbsp Salt
6 1/4-6 3/4 cups Flour (I like to use bread flour, but all purpose flour works just as well)
Directions:
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add the sugar, oil, salt, and 3 cups of flour. Mix until smooth. Continue to add remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until it forms a soft dough.
Turn dough onto floured surface and knead until smooth, usually between 8 and 10 minutes. Place dough ball into a greased bowl, flipping once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled. About 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down dough, put on lightly floured surface and divide into two equal pieces. Form into loaf shape and place into two greased 9x5 in. loaf pans. Cover pans and let rise 1 hour.
Heat oven to 375 and bake for 30-35 minutes. Bread is done when the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. Remove bread from loaf pans and let cool on wire rack.

Mmmmm, yep that's pretty much it, the stuff that started it all for me. Big beautiful loaves of bread, when I was growing up rubbed with a bit of lard when warm out of the over to soften and shine the crust, and the first loaf generally devoured by tearing it apart and spreading it with butter like barbarians because it was still too warm and soft to slice. The smell of bread baking is the reason I wanted to learn to bake in the first place.
