More adventures in bitmap painting.
You most likely wouldn't believe that I found this unremarkable orange harder to draw/paint than the skull. I had to create a whole bespoke set of brushes just to be able to paint anything that looked anything like the infinitely micro-pockmarked skin of an orange.
But hey, learning!

Orange skin is probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to draw. I think my main interest in learning to bitmap is to get a handle on creating such effects. You can't really do such things in a vector artworking program (well, you can, but it's kinda more work than it needs to be).
Ideally I wan to get my vector artwork to work alongside bitmap work and produce something that makes the best of both approaches - the rigidity and preciseness of vectors - and the softness and subtlety of bitmaps.

This one is more significant for what I learned from it - I had to make a whole new set of brushes in order to replicate anything that looked like the pockmarked skin of an orange.
It was actually more challenging to draw this stupid-looking orange than it was to draw the intimidating-looking skull. Which is kinda funny, really.
