In the kingdoms of the Northlands of the region called Storm(named so for the massive storm that surrounds the lands at all times) there is an odd relationship between the nobility of the lands and the dragons that come from even more north.
There is a long history of dragons kidnapping princesses of northern kingdoms, only to be slain by brave warriors and adventurers. Why they continue to kidnap princesses when it always ends in their death none know, not even the foremost experts on dragons in the region.
However those experts are often unwitting agents of the dragons if not themselves dragons in disguise, so it is little wonder none know the truth.
You see, the princesses that are kidnapped, are dragons themselves, having lived as princesses in their lands until it was time to lure in another adventurer for the dragon's odd method of reproduction.
The first step of course is luring in an adventurer and making them prove themselves to be worthy of the dragons' attention before rendering them helpless. Some will make a deal in the face of the dragons that clearly could kill them with ease, others need more... subtle manipulations, false victory for them and the like.
