“…You’ve got to be kidding!” scoffed Bubble. “That’s our plan?”
Starry nodded “Sure is.”
“So,” she began sarcastically. “You are going to go around to the other side of the building, throw rocks off into the distance, and hope the centaur mistakes them for footsteps and follows them?”
The star-speckled rune child smiled and said, “Yes. That’s exactly it.”
Bubble looked toward Scuttle and sighed “I’d ask you to reason with him, but I fear you wouldn’t agree with me.”
“Nope!” confirmed Scuttle as he pumped his fist. “I like the plan and am ready to do our part.”
The pink haposaur turned her attention back on Starry before saying, “I’m not so sure about this wild running toward the door thing when its back is turned.”
“Trust me,” said Starry just before slapping his arm on top of Bubble’s shoulder. “I know what I’m doing here.”
Scuttle moved closer to the edge of the building that separated them from the tower’s plaza before turning back and saying, “Let’s do it!”
Bubble sighed as she made her way up behind her friend.
“What have I gotten myself into?” she asked while she waited for their opportunity to run.
“An adventure,” replied Scuttle without any hesitation. “Don’t tell me you don’t find any of this exciting?”
Bubble paused as she didn’t want to admit that part of her really was enjoying the danger in what they were about to do.
“Well,” Scuttle said as he turned to look straight into Bubble’s eyes. “Admit it.”
The pink haposaur sighed before allowing a smile to form on her face and replying, “Let’s do it!”
“Wait for my signal,” said Starry before scurrying off in the other direction.

Starry had gotten into position to do his part. However, in giving the signal, he accidentally caught the attention of the centaur who was quick to spot Scuttle and Bubble making their way towards the tower.
CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP!
“RUN! RUN! RUN!” cried Scuttle as he scurried with all his might toward the front door.
Bubble turned her head slightly to the side and noticed that the horse-like creature was quickly gaining on them.
“Ahh!” she yelled as she pushed her legs to run like they had never run before.
From a short distance away, Starry cried out “Hold on guys! I’ll save you!”
CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP!
“Grah!” Starry grunted after he quickly pulled a collection of stones from his pocket and hurtled them with all his might toward the speeding centaur.
PIT, PIT
KRR-SHHK-KIK-KIK
The centaur stopped suddenly upon feeling two of the pebbles impact hard against its right side. It then faced Starry, snorted, and returned its full attention to Bubble and Scuttle.
CA-CLOP, CA-CLOP, CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP!
“Rats!” cried Starry before taking to his feet and running with all his might after the mighty beast that was beginning to gain upon his friends again.
“Almost there!” cried Bubble.
BWAM, PAM!
“Oof!” groaned Scuttle as his hands slammed hard upon the wooden door. “It’s locked!”
Bubble quickly looked up and noticed that the doorknob was far too high for even her to reach.
“I can’t reach it!” she panicked.
CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP!
“Quick!” exclaimed Scuttle as he positioned himself underneath the doorknob. “Hop on my shoulders!”
Without a second’s thought, the pink haposaur climbed on top of her friend’s shoulders and began reaching for the knob.
CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP!
The centaur was mere feet away from the kids and was preparing to use his spear on both of the unwelcome intruders.
“Hurry!” exclaimed Scuttle while realizing the sudden darkness around them was the monster about to strike.
CA-CLOP, CA-CLOP
“I got it!” proclaimed Bubble before giving the doorknob a mighty turn.
CA-CHICK
KA-REEK
Realizing the door was starting to slowly move, the pink haposaur hopped off of her friend’s shoulders and stood alongside him.
“Push!” she cried. “Push with all your might!”
The centaur had now come to a complete stop and was beginning a fierce downward stab that would surely skewer the two little Haposaurs. But just before it could do so, the beast felt something land hard on its back.
“Wee-hee!” cried Starry before grabbing a hold of the centaur’s torso.
The monster neighed and scoffed as it desperately tried to shake the green star-speckled rune child from its back.
“Hur-er-er-ee!” Starry shouted while he desperately held on. “Run for i-i-it!”
Scuttle and Bubble didn’t hesitate for a moment as they went about pressing as hard as they could on the thick, wooden door.
KRRSSSHHH
CREEK
“We’re in!” cried Scuttle while the door began to swing the rest of the way open.
“Come on!” cried Bubble while she grabbed her friend’s arm and ran inside the tower with him.
The centaur noticed that the door had been opened and, as a result, gave up on his efforts in shaking Starry from his back in lieu of chasing after the invaders who had made their way inward.
CA-CLOP, CA-CLOP, CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP-CA-CLOP!
“Run for it guys!” cried Starry as he held tightly onto the charging centaur. “I won’t let anything happen to you! I promise!”
