Joseph Dean "Joey" McEntyre, known to the world as "TheBunnyMan".
Joey McEntyre is a literal genius; finishing high school at the age of 14, he waited a few years before attending college to become a university professor. Unfortunately for him, no high-up university wants a professor whose sole intentions of teaching are oriented in the subject of Cryptozoology and the unknown.
Ever since he was a young boy, Joey was obsessed with Cryptos and Legends, and he idolized them as his 'superheroes' and 'villains'. Mothman was like his Batman. Jersey Devil was like his Joker.
So, he decided that he'd gather as much information as he could, wanting the chance to one day teach others about these mysterious wonders that manage to evade our sights. He spent much of his time getting whatever evidence, knowledge, information he could. He was very ready to become a professor, having the education and everything.
His own professors almost failed him, but he still managed to get his degrees by the skin of his teeth. He was then rejected, never hired, simply for the fact that he was considered one of those 'raving, fanatic lunatics' who had there heads up in a weirdo fantasy world.
Throughout his years, he'd been able to take every hit, every bad word, every name, but his defenses started to gradually wear down.
When that final straw was given, he broke. Lost his feckin' mind and ran away from the 'real world', from society. He'd also felt a serious blow of betrayal; his heroes, the Cryptids, had failed him, shown him that he'd never be like them, never be a real 'Hero' to the world in any way. That's when he decided he'd become a 'Villain', a monster. Someone the world would grow to fear and stay away from. Thinking of monsters he'd considered his "villains", he thought the Bunny Man fit him perfectly (even though he'd previously hated him).
After making his first ever kills and instances of havoc, he ran off into the woods and roads, finding a safe spot under a bridge in a little region in the state of Virginia. In the woods nearby the bridge, he made a home out of a large, abandoned underground chamber. The "Rabbit Hole", as he so lovingly calls it, is where he does most of his mutilating, does most of his work.
Because of his numerous gruesome killings and acts of violence, he's become one of the Were-Crew's top enemy priorities. He is especially sought after by Lennon Goddard, the WereDoyarchu.
Joey's idolizing for the Cryptids may have long-since vanished, but his strong desire to be one certainly didn't - thus, the 'rabbit mask'. Every now and again, when the mask needs replacing, he'll hunt for especially large rabbits so that the scale of their faces will fit his. After he kills them, he skins the face section from the rest of the body and punctures three holes into the top and sides so as to have something for the string-straps to hold onto. He then cuts a wide enough space around the eye sockets until he's able to see clearly through them. He carefully sews the mouth closed just enough to where he's able to breath. Then, when the mask is finished, (whether the gore has dried or not) he puts it on and goes out hunting, maybe for rabbits, maybe for human trespassers - kids and teens being his favourites.
As for the ears, it's pretty much the same idea; he wants to be a rabbit-monster. One of his first acts after moving into his underground home was cutting the upper halves of his ears off. Then he hunts for rabbits with very long ears; he usually uses jackrabbits or the larger forest rabbits. Once he's killed them, he cuts off the ears and proceeds to sew them to the tops of his own. When the ears have started to rot after a while, he removes them and goes to find more to repeat the process.
Joey is tall and thin, muscular, red-headed and very freckled, extremely pale with heavy bruise-y bags under his bloodshot eyes, and has orange-yellow teeth. He's usually seen carrying a hatchet and some kind of hunting knife. He never wears a shirt, though he does have a heavy coat made of rabbit skins that he adorns in the winter time.
As crazy as he is, he's still extremely intelligent, though his mental condition has managed to greatly affect his speech. When he talks, his sentences get slurred or are eratic in volume, and his words are almost always rearranged and over-repeated.
He used to be such a nice boy, with his red Chucks on his feet and the Alfalfa-esque cowlick on the back of his head.
(Unfortunately, you can't really see the blood stains coating his gloves. Thanks, Scanner.)
