I had started writing a third piece in my "emotions" trilogy...
...but I forgot where this one was supposed to go from here.
The music is happy. I'm not.

No problem!
I'm convinced that emotions, in music, come from associations -- not anything in the music itself. For me, at least, some of the happiest music is Caribbean. You can hear the marimba as a main instrument (Jamaica).
In Cuban music, the clave is the fundamental rhythm. It is two 4/4 measures long, and it usually goes:
quarter note - eighth rest - quarter note - eighth rest - quarter note
quarter rest - quarter note - quarter note - quarter rest
For this music, I played the clave in swing time -- two eighth notes become a triplet of (a quarter note + an eighth note).
The chords were simple -- just C and G.
