Day #14... This piece is based on the neighborhood cat, "Blackie"... she is just a stray. I think she used to belong to someone here, in the Mobile Home Park, but now, she is cared for by anyone who has a soft spot for her. I often put a dish of water out for her (or any of the cats, really), on overly warm days. When it's very sunny, I will find her lounging underneath my grill, on my porch. There is a cover over it, and it keeps her hidden, but there is also a cross-breeze flowing where she rests. "Blackie" has made her way into the hearts of many here, in the Park, but none moreso, than my next-door-neighbor. My neighbor will find "Blackie" attached to her screen door, very much like this, every single morning. My neighbor feeds her every morning, and also leaves a fresh bowl of water, and dry food out, for all the cats, in the neighborhood. But "Blackie" is the most insistent about when she gets her breakfast, and from whom she gets it. Every morning, just as the sun is coming up, she is found hanging on my neighbor's screen, just waiting to be fed. She is a most pampered princess! But I think, maybe, it's not really the food that she craves, more than the time, and quiet attention, that she receives from my kind-hearted, gentle neighbor. "Blackie" can hunt for herself, and has brought by, many the headless animal, seeking approval for her good hunting skills. Once she hears what a nice catch she made, she takes the creature off, and eats it. I really don't like it when she catches the birds, but I am quite pleased, that we have such a skilled mouser in the Park. She's not the only one, I know, but she IS the only one, who seeks the approval of the homeowners, for her good hunting. We don't have many pests, in the Park, with all the cats running around, outside, which suits me fine. At least I won't have little "uninvited guests" finding their way into my home.
