My favourite rat is named Boo and she is infact the fattest of my rats.

Yes. I have four; Boo (dumbo rat, large and white, missing the tip of her tail, very poor eyesight, so she bites), Escapist (dumbo rat, white with grey hood, very friendly), Blue (a blue fancy rat, outgoing but not as friendly as escapist, likes to steal snacks), and Rex (a double-rexed, dark grey rat, who is the smallest of the bunch).

Of the rodents that I have had experience with, rats are the best pets, because they will actually interact with you. They, to some extent, make eye contact and like to be held, petted, carried around, etc. Whereas the other rodents seem less than thrilled with human interaction.

They require more room and toys, though.

When I only had the two and they were younger/smaller, I kept them in a 20gallon fish tank, but now the four of them live in this.. http://www.superpetusa.com/index.html
Though it's a little hard to clean and a tad bit small for them, it seems to work reasonably well.
