UNSS Horizons (DSEV-1)
HERE SHE FINALLY IS! The short lived infamous UNSS Horizons (21st, Dec 2031- 18th, July 2032)
Ordered on 12th, Nov 2025 by the United Nations Space Administration (UNSA) and completed on the 21st of December 2031 the new ship was built in small sections and brought up to the ISS on SLS Block 2 Cargo rockets as well as the command module which signified the start of the Horizons 1 Mission. The entire vehicle designated DSEV-1 (Deep Space Exploratory Vehicle 1) had a length of 118 meters making it longer than the SLS Block 2 Cargo is high by 7 meters and a width and height of 60 meters which was achieved by the 30 meter radius rotating rings that make an artificial gravitational force from centrifugal force. Equipped with 4 MSLM's (Martian Surface Landing Modules) with enough to sustain a crew of 4 for 2 months with rationing. They also contained small rovers and an array of solar panels to be set up to power the inflatable habitats. The Horizons was powered by 5 RS-25 liquid fueled engines that were also used on the SLS. As a staute of saftey the command module was detachable and equppied with small wings to glide down to a body's surface for a "landing". The forward ring held the recreational, medical, stowage, and exercise areas, while the aft contained crew quarters. The command Module also held most of the supplies that were needed and required for emergency procedures on a crash landing. Because construction was such a large task it was split up among NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), the ESA (European Space Agency), and the NCSRSP or the New Communist State of Russia Space Program. With NASA taking the CM, the ESA for the main body, and NCSRSP for the engine stage provided with the engines from the US. The audio contact the Horizons had with Earth was on 18th, July 2032 with a message from control warning of loss of pressure in the liquid hydrogen fuel line reading...
"Houston to H-One, we are detecting a small leak in the LH Fuel System can you confirm?" -Houston Control Center 17/7/2032 23:32
16 minute gap
"Negative Houston, we're reading all green on fuel lines." -F.G. Lafleur 17/7/2032 23:48
16 min gap
"Roger, we checked systems in between and are still reading a leak in the system. Can you send someone to check it out?" -Houston Control Center 18/7/2032 00:04
16 min gap
"I was just back there. I can confirm negative on the leak. But if it'll make you american ass-wads happy than fine!" -F.G. LaFleur 18/7/2032 00:20
Afterwards all radio contact was lost and unheard from for over 2 months, with the International community launching a full scale investigation after 3 days without contact.
