Trying to come to terms with my 'furriness' was rather difficult for me. It was significantly much more than simply liking animal characters, and I always felt that there was some part of me deep inside that was unaddressed, an important part of my soul that was trying to tell me something or perhaps simply trying to 'be'. I didn't know it back then, but there were many others who also felt 'out of place', as if they belonged somewhere else, somewhere outside of what we know as reality.
The Dreamwall is about the division between this "furry" existence and the physical reality we call "real life." We long to exist purely as furries -- not just to look like them physically, but to exist in a place where we can truly be ourselves, somewhere that might be freer from certain constricting human social structures. Even though having a furry community allows us come together and try to create a more 'furry' environment, there will always be that gap, that separation of the 'human' and the 'furry' part of existence.
The kangaroo on the other side of the Dreamwall is 'Melody', a figure that haunted my psyche during the years I was discovering the furry side of myself. I view her as a metaphysical force, a spirit guide, and my muse -- the soul trying to connect with mine from beyond the Dreamwall. Over the years, I've continually tried to re-evaluate the nature of her relationship with me, and in doing so have learned a lot about my own identity and what it is that makes me who I am.

I thought about that, but one of the problems that would occur is that the backgrounds don't quite line up, and they'd shift around quite a bit. I didn't use any digital editing to make these, it's all hand-done in the darkroom, cropped with cutting blades, and mounted on board.
Gawain,
Before today, I didn't know your name. Before today, I only had a memory of "Dreamwall" from a convention years and years ago. I said to a friend, then, that this -your work- was brilliantly professional, standing out from the rest of the art show.
My dear sir, how glad I am that Jakebe and JoMo finally clued me in on where to find you.
Before today, I knew only my memory of this work.
Today, I'm happy to say, I've discovered your brilliant artwork again.
This series of nine is what I consider to be the finest work of anthropomorphic artwork ever produced in the fandom. Period. I have seen thousands of pieces and enjoyed many, many works of art that I have called "great". This series is at the top of that list.
If there is any way I can purchase a print of the nine stages in this series on a single print, I would do so gladly and hang it in my home. Is there any way for such a thing?
Even if there isn't, I still wanted to come here and let you know how moved I was -and still am- by your amazing work.
Thank you, sir.
Yours,
Sylvan (Dave)

this is probably one of the single most beautiful things on FA i have to say.
i've found so very few people who can go so deeply on this thing, that wall to me is like a breaking point though, not of reality, but a point that keeps us as who we are, and will occasionally allow for us to see it as a window, viewing into what we could be, what we desire. or for some, what has yet to come?
you've done a wonderful job on this short series of pictures, i can only hope we can see more in the future for sure.
