This infographic elaborates a bit on the lore behind their masks, and the rules about them.
The masks are worn in memory of Mama, the very first waywick, who was viewed as a monster and attacked when she revealed herself to the humans. They are representative of the fact that she had to remain hidden from humanity, and are viewed as a spiritual connection to Mama (who is essentially their deity.)
Masks can be any style, any shape, and any color. They can have patterns and shapes painted or carved into them.
masks can cover the horns completely, slightly, or not at all.
a mask CAN NOT have decorations attached to it, as that is a sign of authority and leadership in waywick society. (Ie, Admins of the species are allowed decorated masks.)
Masks are unique for every Waywick, as it is manifested based on an individual's energy signature.
Masks can ONLY be removed when a waywick is in The Circle or wandering Aether, as there are no humans present in either location at any time.
