These are Tanci up for adoption, at $15 each they come with a personality summary and a reference sheet PLUS headshot.
Species Name:
? Tanci
Weight:
? Light, 65-80 pounds depending on sex and diet
Height:
? Male around 24 inches
? Female around 20 inches
Category:
? Feral fantasy
? Inhabit rustic civilisation, loose communities with basic technology, think frontier towns. Within these they live in communal dens/huts and not in pairs.
? There are more civilised and wild tanci, they do not argue with each other, rather prefer to trade skills and work alongside each other
Unique Attributes:
? It would be preferred that names are nouns or verbs, for example - Skip, Hop, Tree, Machine, Stone or months of the year.
? Each and every one is categorically blind.
? They all have ONE colour glass they can see through, for example, Machine's is yellow.
? At birth, often their parents pass down the ‘seeing colour’, so if the dad saw through blue and the mum saw through yellow, baby would see through green. This rule is sometimes broken, for example if the colours of the parents do not mix well.
? The primary seeing colours (red, yellow and blue) generally happen to males, but red likes to choose females.
? Their teeth are similar to rat's teeth and they are omnivores
? Their wings are always ONE solid colour. Most Tanci actually have the ability to -manifest- wings, though generally they are either born with them or are not. Wings may sprout from unwinged Tanci in times of DIRE NEED, for example... extreme falling.
? Their senses are so sharp, they don't really need to see, though it is nice to be able to see others.
? They have a thumb that tucks up behind their wrist when walking on all fours, this allows them to handle items and craft goggles, shelter.. anything you can do with your hands.
? Omnivorous opportunists. If there is food, they will eat it.
Appearance/Coloration:
? They tend to stick to natural, earthy colours in their fur, but often dye the longer parts of fur. Black and white are quite common, and many have markings like magpies.
? In general if you can see the patterning on a horse, dog or cat you are good to go.
? They enjoy playing with their manes, males and females alike will grown them long or cut them short just to have a different ‘fashion’. The ability to see is a gift to them, and they intend to make everything they look at pleasant.
? The males are slightly larger than the females, but both have the same build.
Personality/Temperament:
? Kindly, but often will refuse to talk to smaller beings, seeing them as food rather than companions and keeping watch.
? They will willingly learn human/common speech and happily work for equivalent in return. Many are schooled in human and common speech while still young.
? Tancis want to learn EVERYTHING they possibly can. Learn, learn, learn. They can and will bombard you with questions. They also enjoy teaching and passing on things they have learned.
Fighting Ability/Strength:
? Sinewy, not so strong, enough to knock a person down, but not enough to hold down a fighting rottweiler.
? Quick reflexes. quick like a cat on speed.
? They will avoid physical fights and use talk tactics instead.
Group/Pack:
? Very social.
? No set pack, all consider the others brothers.
? There is no head honcho/leader - basically they all look to each other. So if one tanci is good at negotiation, and the group needs to negotiate, that one is the one they look to. When situation changes, so does the leader.
Additional Information:
? Mating season is in January, where they will seek out their mate from the previous year – unless they are already with them. If the previous mate is deceased, they will find a new one.
? Reproductive maturity is reached at around one year old.
? They are monogamous, meaning they will stick to one mate their entire lives.
? If one mate dies, the other will carry on without them, raise the kit then find a different mate the next year.
? One kit is born per pair.
? Pregnancy lasts 4 months, really short, but the kit is born naked and about a handspan long.
? The parents will DOTE on this kid, do everything within their power to make it happy. Basically it’s a little ruler as soon as it’s born.
? When it hits a year old, and it has to fend for itself for 6 months. Technically it can survive on it's own at 6 months, but the parents are extremely protective. If it survives this, it’s parents will treat it as they’d treat any other Tanci.
? As soon as the parents know their kit’s seeing-colour, they will seek out the right shade of glass to make a pair of goggles. Single parents tend to make monogoggles with just one lens rather than accept help from other Tanci - this is one respect in which they will not ask for help unless it is their partner.
? Throughout their life, Tanci will replace and renew their glass, any little scratch, and it must be changed.
? Vocally, they mostly squeak like a cheetah. barks are used a lot too, howls are rare. [ see: cheetahs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSic.....eature=related ]
? They can live to be about 25 years old.
? They will breed with other species, on their terms, and the kits will usually be a mix in appearance, half blind, and lack a seeing colour.
