Hey guys, here be the 3rd one for the month.
This one was a little more of a sinister stick than the last. How
so? Let's get into it.
Oscar Rebirth 2012 Maduro:
Wrapper: Mexican San Andres Maduro
Binder: Honduras
Filler: Honduras & Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction:
For this particular Maduro box press had a very refined and subtle look, but with a lethal feel. Firm to the touch and a bit toothy. Lightly oiled as well. As far as being packed and rolled, snug and just right. The red color for the band gave it a more tough and sinister that gives you a pleasant greeting. The scent was very sweet and cedary. Seems and veins were moderate but subtle. Let's get to it!
The Burn Part 1:
The first few puffs started out gentle with a semi sweet and leathery start. Minor black pepper notes soon followed. The draw was exceptionally balanced and even burning too. I was having a Hibiki Japanese Scotch Whiskey so the pallet blend was just right for it. As the stick went down a little further the leather notes became a little bolder and tighter. IT was like something was about to go down and things were going to be a little bumpy along the way.
The Burn Part 2:
The next way down, the pepper notes got a little tougher but stayed a bit of distance from the semi sweet notes. Almost like a dark cherry note was evolved from the semi sweet taste. Half way down at this point, the pepper started to rise a little more. I then purged to get some of the build up out. Tasting again the roasty notes began to come out and the semi sweet dark cherry notes were a little more vibrant. So far the body is between medium and full for my pallet.
The Burn Final:
As the ending was coming near the pepper notes were still as strong as ever, but soon started to calm down a bit. The dark cherry notes were the same as well. a bit roasty nuts came a little late. Still regardless, the full body effect of this stick is now in full swing till the last few puffs. The winning notes were the pepper in the end. With that, I put it out on the ground as I left for the take out place I go to on Saturday night.
Verdict:
Sweet, Spicy, and Sinister. This is the kind of stick the end the night on the town, the club, or at home. Something with a bit on an edge and sharpness. Great for the price as well, depending on your state. Grab yourself a couple.
Next Week: Oscar Habano
See you then!
