When I adopted Cheragon from   TwistedTeeth I paid extra for a sketch of him being ready to fight. Ghost had a brilliant idea in that his bulbs become spikes when he's pissed off enough.

This made me decide that his bubbles store energy in case he needs to fight. Since I've decided he's associated with spring and spring brings thunder storms for much of the world, this energy takes the form of lighting when he uses it.
