Turns out Ylssa's dream was more than a premonition, somehow, she's caused Xyo to gain a great deal of weight over the course of one night! What this portends for the future, I'll let you decide
OK, still planning on releasing this and other backlogged material a little more frequently. Anyways, I hope things are getting a bit more exciting now as our white scaled friend has had a sudden bounce in weight, and not for the last time I might add

His Weight in Bronze
Chapter 7
By Shalion & Yjay
Early the following morning, however, she realized that Xyo’s frame was actually not all that different from how she had been picturing him after all. Unusually early in the morning for the turgid dragoness, she awoke with her paws around the sleeping figure of Xyo, himself snoring for a change. Feeling his shoulder, Ylssa was aware of a drastic change in the feel and shape she had experienced the previous night. Quickly, she lifted her head, all traces of sleep fog banished even as she noticed a greater ease of her own movement from what she was used to.
During the night it appeared that the drake had gone through yet another startling transformation. He had clearly put on at least as much weight as he had in the previous 10 days he had been staying with her, though unlike before, most of this weight had come on as pure flab. Xyo had, in just a few hours, gone from a strapping, just slightly softened, muscular drake to a rather rotund, morbidly obese figure. He was snoring loudly though a thickened neck with a definite underhang which differed from Ylssa’s only in size. The ribs had utterly vanished, replaced with a barrel-like torso fully equipped with a round belly which swelled below his now padded solar plexis. The skin on his belly was stretched tight with strong ligaments hauling up its mass near his crotch and the dragoness could not help but notice the way the scales along Xyo’s flank there had just started to spread and expose the tender under-skin.
Ylssa was nearly frantic about Xyo having perhaps doubled his weight overnight, which was not at all her experience with her own power, which up until now had been entirely passive. “How did I do this?” she puzzled over and over as she ran over the events of the past night as well as what she remembered from her already fading dreams. And while Xyo was still not nearly as obese as Ylssa, it did not take more than a few more breaths, feeling the weight lifted off of her flanks and diaphragm, to notice the significant change in herself. She ran a claw along her own flank, feeling the remarkable empty space she had once occupied. She noticed that her own girth had reduced to the point where her belly did not flow over the top of Xyo’s own back, which had broadened markedly. As yet, her skin remained loose and hanging in crinkly folds, but not as much as one would have expected given her dramatic weight loss. Ylssa knew that her ability was slowly correcting for the new body weight, though less quickly than she was losing it, at least the amount lost last night anyways.
She got up carefully, trying not the wake the snoring Xyo, though she made a slight frown at the noise the newly obese dragon was making. She stood up and examined herself further. Right away, Ylssa could tell that a tremendous amount of weight had come off of her flanks. She was no longer wider than she was tall, not nearly. And though her large belly still sagged around her ankles, it was very loose, much like an empty sack, not nearly as heavy and full as it once was. All of her underside was like that with the abundant loose skin. “Yeesh…” she muttered to herself as she prodded at the hanging skin and fat under her neck, which wobbled like a doughy sheet. She could not wait for this loose excess to haul itself back into her body. She looked back at Xyo and eyed his now rounded body. She would need a few more nights like the past one before that could happen for real, though.
Before Xyo woke up, Ylssa set about making another big cauldron of sweet meat porridge, finding the activity surprisingly easy. Her belly might still be hanging low and her ribs and spine still buried in fat, but the reduced weight really made all the difference.
[Yjay]:Xyo awoke groggily as he felt the morning sun shine in his sensitive eyes, forcing him into consciousness. He brought up a forelimb to rub his eyes, however he felt his scales shift in a significantly different way from he how was used to. Finally opening them, the sleepy drake took a moment to trace the cause of the change, his eyes immediately snapping to the flab which was hanging down from the limb. Blinking for a second, Xyo did a double take to verify that he was actually awake and not just dreaming. However when he touched the now yielding surface of his middle, he realized that it was very much real. The surface now gave way beneath the touch of his softened paws, even the slight motion of prodding the abundant surface sending a slight ripple though his form.
He almost lost his balance and fell back the furs of the dais when he tried to get up in order to get a better view of himself, his center of gravity having shifted such a significant amount overnight. Now standing, the dragon’s tummy was hanging barely above his knees, the excess flesh brushing against his thickened legs. Xyo craned his neck to get a better view of the rest of his altered form, rolls forming on his white scaled neck. It seemed as if every aspect of his form had been softened, from his tail all the way to his face whose cheeks now looked slightly more plump than normal. Again, the confused drake was having a very difficult time comprehending exactly what had transpired to cause his increase in weight. The first thought that popped into his mind was the massive quantity of meat which he’d consumed yesterday, but even that didn’t rival the amount of newfound fat which he’d gained. The drake was too busy inspecting his own form to notice Ylssa watching him with an amused expression on her face.
[Shalion]: “Good morning, Xyo. Sleep well?” she asked in a sweet, but hardly innocent tone as she continued to examine the drake’s expanded figure with a keen eye. She sat on the ground ahead of him, the backs of her forepaws pressing deeply into especially yielding flesh, forming deep rolls around her wrists. Yet despite this, her greatly decreased volume let her sit in an almost normal upright posture, instead of slouching over a massive collection of brimming fat which had previously swelled her flanks and belly. It was impossible not to notice that somewhere between a quarter to a third of her mass had somehow evaporated from when Xyo had first met the obese dragoness.
That, while somehow also, Xyo had more than doubled his weight from the previous day, now morbidly obese himself. Ylssa especially liked the way his rump and haunches had thickened immensely as well as his belly, the drake’s back taking on a new lower curve as it supported the hugely increased weight. “You certainly look… well rested.” she added, barely concealing a grin at his expense.
[Yjay]: “E-Errr y-yes…” Xyo said extremely uneasily, still not fully certain of or acclimated to his massive change in weight. He got up awkwardly and was forced almost to a waddle due to his larger stomach as he went over to where Ylssa was sitting. A glance, the female dragon seemed to look slightly different to the drake, but he couldn’t quite put a talon on exactly what the change was. Her form actually seemed somewhat smaller to Xyo, although the drowsy dragon didn’t give it a second thought. His mind was still somewhat muddled from yesterday, and his awaking today certainly hadn’t been of any help. The chubby drake sat down on his thickened haunches, his posture slightly abnormal as he had to give his stomach a wide berth to spread on the ground beneath him.
He was already able to faintly smell the pot of porridge cooking behind Ylssa, which sparked his newfound appetite as his stomach let out a small growl. ‘How am I still hungry? A meal like that should have tied me over for a month! Then again... ‘ he thought as he began to idly rub his fatty midriff, occasionally feeling a trace of the softer flesh with lay beneath his scales. He would have more time to think this ordeal over later. For now, Xyo knew that he was hungry once more.
[Shalion]: Ylssa lifted an eye-ridge noticing Xyo’s apparent sleep induced confusion. Well, if he could not notice such a remarkable flux in both of their physical sizes, she was certainly not going to enlighten him. As he moved ponderously off of the dais - he was actually pretty cute as he wobbled his fattened figure and fought for balance - the still-fat dragoness moved and scooped up a big bowl of steaming porridge with honey and meat from the cauldron, relishing in how much easier it was to move around with more than a quarter of her former mountainous weight absent.
“Here, you look hungry, Xyo.” she said mildly, almost subserviently as she handed over the big wooden bowl. She had walked three-legged with the bowl, something she had not been able to do for many decades now. And looking down at her foreleg, it was astounding to see it not only sagging less heavily than it had less than two weeks ago, but the thick musculature which made the foreleg bulging impressively from under the still thick coating of fat. It was incredible how the change in her physique kept capturing her attention like this, though Xyo himself was almost as interesting to look at.
His face and neck had gotten much heavier, the white drake on the verge of developing real jowls now. His distended neck hung in an obvious waddle beneath a thickened girth and his chest had become pronounced in a real brisket which wobbled with each of his steps. The big belly rested solidly on the ground, the heavy mass making Ylssa feel warm again in her nether regions. She relished the added difficulty Xyo’s extra body mass was going to add to today’s tasks.
Even before he began to eat, Ylssa went back and fetched her own bowl full of the fortifying breakfast. “We’d best eat quickly, there’s a lot to do today.” She added before tucking in with her usual gusto for food.
[Yjay]: “A-Alright…” Xyo said uneasily before he carefully picked up the bowl of hot porridge, yet his gnawing hunger pushed his unease aside for the moment. He brought the bowl up to his mouth and tipped it back, drinking almost the entire thing in one single gulp. The steamy porridge tasted even better than the last he’d had it, and was almost disappointed when the bowl ran out. Unlike last time, his stomach didn’t bulge any more from his midsection that it already had. In fact, even after finishing the first bowl, Xyo still felt like he could fit even more food in his stomach. ‘Has my stomach really stretched that much?’ pondered to himself once more, a curious look unknowingly crossing his muzzle.
After he’d licked his chops clean, he decided to spend a moment to ponder over his recent changes to a larger extent. He almost certainly knew that he’d put on extraordinary amount of weight, his sagging stomach now an actual part of the white drake. Now that he was closer to the dragoness, he could swear that she did in fact look lighter than the last time he’d seen her. Her flanks seemed to bulge out less to her sides and her midriff also seemed to reside higher above the ground than it had previously. Instead of dismissing the thought, the melancholy dragon simply moved it to the back of his mind to ponder over later. For the moment, it seemed as if Ylssa had something else planned for him.
[Shalion]: With a surprising eagerness and alacrity, Ylssa took the emptied bowl from Xyo and refilled it from the cauldron which was by now already half empty. She did this without even asking the drake, though she had caught the wistful look on his face when he finished. It surprised her also how much Xyo’s eating capacity had increased as well. What exactly was the nature of this mysterious power that she had anyways? Ylssa knew little about it to be sure save that it had manifested during her adolescence, its nature so subtle that her own parents and siblings had mocked her for not having any special talent that all dragons tended to possess in some way or form. And since she had learned by painstaking observation the effect she had by her mere presence on the living things around her, her power had been little but a source of aggravation in her life, inevitably spoiling relationships far after lasting damage had been done to those around her and eventually causing her to seek a secluded life far from her own kind and among those of lesser species. But now with Xyo, her power was manifesting itself more powerfully than she had ever known. Ylssa wondered if she were altering Xyo’s physiology to an even greater extent than she knew… and if she could do that, could she do other things as well? Perhaps even learn how to control it consciously?
“Xyo, we have a busy day today.” she said as she pushed over the second heaping bowl, her placid face not betraying her buzzing thoughts in the least. “I haven’t told you, but yesterday, those humans came up here for a reason. It appears that someone or something has been stealing livestock from the human village. This is bad because when the humans have fewer animals to raise, they have fewer to give to me… us.” she added, just a touch late. “The humans down there are defenseless, so it’s up to us to find whatever is doing it and make it stop.” Ylssa tipped up her bowl, finishing its contents in one long slurp. “I’m not sure what’s out there myself.” she admitted after a big swallow that traveled visibly down her loose skinned neck. “Probably human bandits, but possibly another dragon also.” she slammed her bowl down on the stone floor. “Which is why I’m having Samantha geared up this morning for another ride… and why I’m coming with you.” she gave the heavyset dragon a large wink.
[Yjay]: Filling his stomach filled to a satisfactory level, Xyo returned his attention to Ylssa and her explanation. When she got the section about her following the pair to whatever their destination may be, the drake couldn’t hide the somewhat shocked expression which came across his face. “W-With us?” he said as he looked over Ylssa’s form once more. She certainly seemed more sprightly than she’d been yesterday, but could she even fly? “A-Are you s-sure? You’re q-quite a bit… heavier t-than I am…” he added curiously, his mind wandering back to his own fattened form. Well, there was certainly quite the weight gap between the pair, but it was now significantly smaller than it had been previously.
He flapped his wings experimentally, testing to see if he could still fly himself. The extra flab on his back restricted motion to a small extent, however Xyo also felt the denser muscles of his wings which still were firm as ever. ‘Plus, I could always use my ability if the need really arises…’ the white drake thought as he mentally reassured himself, however a shadow of doubt still followed in suit. Ylssa still seemed unaware of what had led his brothers to displace him from his home and he wasn’t quite ready to reveal it… ‘If ever…’ he mentally added, deciding that it was better to rely on brute strength for the time being, lest the entire situation which had landed him here in the first place repeat itself.
[Shalion]: Ylssa gave a curt frown as she tossed her head back over herself, shaking out her wings slightly from her still very wide figure. The new losses from her previous tremendous stature were significant to be sure, her wings did not feel nearly as stretched now as they had been over her jutting, bovine flanks, and yet she had to admit to herself that her bulk was still quite the burden. She figured she could probably glide a fair distance, but was not sure at all about her ability to actually gain altitude. Plus it had been so long… she hoped that she had not lost the necessary muscle tone in her shoulders and the big muscles connecting her flight joints to her breast bone.
“Well, I think I’ll just fly a little…” said Ylssa not to be countermanded by Xyo. “You’ll be doing most of the leg, err... wing-work with Samantha naturally.” she turned back to the fattened white drake and preened her still-jowly face with a soft paw, “I’ll follow along on foot as backup if needed. Just to make sure you don’t screw anything up.” she winked again, “You’re still new to humans after all.” She raised her paw, gesturing at Xyo’s wide belly that spread over the floor under him, “Besides, even if we both hiked, you look like you could do with some more exercise!” Her naked grin lacked any sense of irony or self-deprecation.
[Yjay]: The deep red blush on the white drake’s scales stood out like a sore thumb, moments passing before he finally managed to get it under control. Ylssa had certainly made some good points, Xyo had only begun interacting with humans as of yesterday, and the morbidly obese dragon knew that moving around with extra weight was more than tiring, especially due to his lack of experience and the loss of his skinnier form. Without a second argument, the chubby drake got up from where he sat and stood on all four paws, wobbling unsteadily for a moment as his gut jiggled even after he stopped moving. “Alright, should we get going?” he asked, genuinely wanting to get on his way.
It would be nice to be in the open air again, and being with Samantha again wasn’t something the drake was concerned about. What was a larger worry in his mind was how she would react to his massive gain in weight. She’d seen how relatively fit he was yesterday, and his new condition was a clear contrast to how he’d been originally. ‘What would she would think…’ the phrase rang in his mind again, Xyo grasping the fact that he was actually thinking about the human as something more than another entity living on the same plane of existence as him. The pale colored drake couldn’t quite put a talon on it just yet, but he knew that today would put that theory to the test. The curious revelation left the drake staring off into space before Ylssa’s words finally snapped him back to the present concerning matter at hand.
[Shalion]: “Oh, aren’t we enterprising today…” cooed Ylssa as she led the way out of the main entrance to the shrine. The two dragons walked down the path to the village and along the way, the bronze noticed her small herd of cattle and goats out grazing in the fenced in area. They were already quite chubby, having nearly doubled their original weights since she received them. The pigs, naturally, could not make it out to enjoy the sunshine.
Although Ylssa thought she could have tried to glide downhill into Dragon’s Reach, she was not sure the incline was steep enough for how fast she would drop with her more than considerable weight, despite her impressive wingspan. So they walked into the small village. Even as Ylssa moved, she could feel that her gait had altered significantly. She did not have such a severe waddle now that so much extra flesh had been removed from her hips and haunches, however, her legs still wanted to move how they were used to, causing Ylssa to walk with an exaggerated sway; though with a belly that was still dangling well below her ankles, she still had more than a little natural waddle left in her stride. Xyo, she noticed was still trying to adapt to his body’s weight distribution and reduced center of gravity. The big belly in particular seemed to be bothering him, what with it constantly rubbing against his legs and his chunky haunches themselves rubbing against each other. “Just don’t say anything.” Ylssa whispered to him urgently as they moved in among the wooden buildings. “And for the Ancestors’ sake, don’t break anything!”
The normal morning hubbub of the human village came to an abrupt halt as the two dragons walked in down the main venue. Ylssa was somewhat relieved to have a lot of extra space now between her flanks and the buildings on either side of her. She lifted her head high as she walked among the lesser creatures, maintaining a royal dignity. No one asked why they were there or even who the strange new obese white drake was. People only moved themselves, their animals and carts out of her way, whispers of “Protector” on either side of her.
They made their way to the biggest house in the village, Jacob’s, which was complete with its own stable and even a small forge. Ylssa ambled around into the back yard which extended past a wide field of wheat, barley and vegetables and into the forest beyond. Ylssa saw that both Jacob and Samantha were already outside. Ylssa gave a small half-smile when she saw Samantha dressed in a simple, but well made leather jerkin complete with leather armlets and shin guards. She was working on some incredible tangle of leather straps in the stable, while Jacob was hammering some iron arrowheads in the compact forge. They both looked up at the dragons and bowed low.
“Protector…” they chanted serenely.
Samantha then turned right away from Ylssa to Xyo coming up behind her. She gasped and her hand flew to her mouth. She wasn’t sure what to say or think as the two large creatures loomed over the comparatively small human enclosures. But eventually, she did look down at the leather straps and buckles in her hands. “I think these are going to need some adjustments.” she chuckled, blushing up at Xyo.
[Yjay]: As the white drake had been walking down the hill and through the village, he began to notice the intricacy of the design of the settlement. Each road seemed to be mapped out in some meaningful way, at least from all of the current avenues he’d remembered thanks to his near-photographic memory. The houses seemed to be of simple construction, mostly made of wood, but the sheer quantity of them could not be understated as they were scattered to such an extent Xyo couldn’t even see the forest through the mass of structures at times. More importantly were the inhabitants of the structures, who moved aside for the pair and whispered to themselves in hushed tones. It seems Ylssa was not understating how much power she had over the residents of the town, as he couldn’t see a single person who wasn’t in awe at their presence.
When they’d finally arrived at Jacob’s place of residence, Xyo was more than slightly embarrassed at Samantha’s comment. His only initial response was vivid red blush on his pale colored cheeks, which had a newfound layer of flab on them as well. “Eheh y-yea…” was the drake’s simple response as he let out a nervous chuckle. His mind was still whirring as he tried to gauge exactly what Samantha thought of the changes on his form. However his attention was drawn to the complex system of straps that she had held in her hands, his head drawing closer in order to give them a more acute inspection.
[Shalion]: Samantha was alarmed to say the least by the remarkable change in Xyo’s appearance. He was quite literally twice the drake he was just the previous day and not in the most flattering way either… Though Samantha knew it was not her place to judge a living god. However, in her secret thoughts, her gaze crept over to Ylssa who had already gone and sat by her father and were discussing what was known about the cattle theft in greater detail. It had not escaped her that the Protector was grossly overweight, though that fact never detracted in her belief of Ylssa’s ability to protect the village by her diviness alone if not her pure physical ability. But seeing her now, notably reduced while Xyo had become hugely obese overnight, Samantha could not help but suspect a connection. But she daren’t say anything about her thoughts to the living goddess, or even Xyo whom the Protector seemed to be exerting as much dominance over as any human.
“Here, let me show you what I’ve rigged together.” said Samantha brightly as the large dragon nosed down at her handiwork tangled on her lap. “It’ll be easier if I can adjust the buckles while it’s on you…” and with that, she threw a loop of leather over Xyo’s head and guided it down to rest at the base of his thick neck. The “adjustments” proceeded with a lot of loosening of straps and attaching extra belts together in order to circumference the white dragon’s now considerable girth. It was fortunate in that the apparatus fit around his neck and forelegs and did not have to go around his now soft and expansive middle, which might have easily turned into a hopeless affair. Already some of the straps were disappearing into folds of flesh around the base of his upper forelegs…
“...And you say there were horse tracks?” asked Ylssa of Jacob as he described the evidence left behind where the villagers had been noticing the disappearing cattle.
“Yes, Mistress. And some of the cattle who had been tied up have had their cords cut through with knives.”
Ylssa gave a soft sigh. Then it was human bandits after all, humans or else some other humanoid analogue who had learned to tame horses. Ylssa did not spend too much time considering the differences between the races of orcs, goblins, trolls and elves. Humans even, had only really superficial differences, unlike dragons who were each unique with their own magical gifts from birth, no two alike… she glanced back at Xyo... though some were obviously more potent than others. “Jacob, I will see an end to the thievery myself.” she noticed the worry in the older human’s eyes and added, “And don’t worry about Samantha…” again she glanced over, seeing as the young woman chuckled as she struggled to tighten down the harness on Xyo’s expansive frame. “...She’s in good hands.”
[Yjay]: The feeling of the straps sinking down into his thickened frame was certainly an odd experience for Xyo, considering he still wasn’t even accustomed to the newfound flab which resided all across his body. It took almost 20 minutes for Samantha to get all of the needed straps around Xyo’s chubby limbs, but eventually she managed to get everything in place. The drake took a moment to look over the apparatus that was now mounted to his overweight form, noting how a large amount of the straps were almost completely buried in his exuberant flesh. Once he’d finished looking himself over, at least for the time being, Xyo turned back to Samantha who looked proud of her handiwork.
“So what exactly does this do?” the ample drake asked curiously, pointing to the system of straps wrapped around his neck and forelimbs. The leather cords reminded him of the times when his brothers would wrestle the poor drake “for fun”, however this was comparatively more comfortable compared to being wrestled harshly by a drake twice his size.
[Shalion]: Samantha ducked into the outdoor shed affixed to the large - by human standards at least - manor house. “Well, they are useful for all kinds of things, mostly for saddlebags and carrying things…” she grunted as she hefted up something leather and larger around that her own chest. “Erg, but mostly it's for this.” She walked back over to the corpulent drake and thumped the leather saddle down onto the wide base of his neck, which at this point was at even wider as the barrel of a quite sturdy horse. She fixed it into place with yet more buckles and Xyo saw that the saddle came equipped with stirrups, presumably allowing Samantha greater control and stability while atop him. “How does that feel?” she asked cautiously. With so much weight having been added to the white drake already, Samantha was a little fearful of burdening him with yet more weight.
Meanwhile, Ylssa was receiving a hand drawn map from Jacob indicating where the thefts had happened on a crude outline of the village and its surrounding territories. Ylssa observed in surprise how much the village had expanded since the last time she had had a map drawn for her, the fields extending into areas that had been pure forest before along with extensive terracing and irrigation that turned rough mountainside into arable land. However, Ylssa recalled several old caves and stone structures which had been home to bandits in times past, before Jacob had been born in fact, and in times before even his grandfather had been born. Ylssa decided they would check these old haunts first, and if they turned up nothing… well, Xyo would have a lot of flying to do. She smirked once more as she looked over his more than pudgy figure. Well, if Xyo’s flying ability failed, then hers would be returning sooner rather than later, if she had anything to do with it, which she did, in fact. She chuckled again to herself.
“Protector?” Jacob looked questioningly up at her from the portable table where the map and figures rested.
“Ahem, excuse me.” she said, and pulled her eyes away from Xyo and Samantha. “Please continue.” and bent her head to look at the scribblings once more.
[Yjay]: The weight of saddle and rider on Xyo’s shoulder was miniscule when compared to the extra heft he already carried on his frame. With that said, the extra fat residing most predominately around his middle would cause a few issues whilst flying. A whisper in the back of his head reminded him that he could resolve the issue in more ways than one, should he choose to do so. Again he pushed away the persistent thought to another area of his mind, but a speck of it still lingered. ‘If I keep going the way I’m going…’ he thought to himself as he grabbed his midriff with one of his foreclaws, ‘I might not have a choice.’ Xyo mentally added, stimulating the unrest he felt about his change in weight which the drake had previously suppressed earlier that morning.
“Xyo? Are you alright?” Samantha’s said, her voice causing the dragon to snap out of whatever trance he was in.
“Oh uh...I-It’s fine... “ was his simple answer, genuinely wishing to avoid over complicating things more than they already had been. Xyo took the time to quietly shift the topic, for his own good rather than anyone else’s. “Are you ready to depart?” he asked Samantha, who was standing only a few feet away from the obese drake.
[Shalion]: “Well, sure. But we don’t know where we’re going yet…” Samantha started to say but trailed off as Ylssa padded back over to them, her wide, sagging frame looming over the much smaller human woman.
“Go get your things together and take the map from your father.” Ylssa instructed and the the fair haired woman complied in a rush, forgetting even to mutter a “Protector…” in her haste. Then Ylssa looked the fattened Xyo up and down, outfitted in the saddle and a couple bags of supplies which had been packed the previous night. “How does it fit? Can you move easily?” she asked. Ylssa had only ever permitted herself to be ridden once, and that had been over a century ago. She had to admit there were some benefits to having bags, or ‘pockets’ as she liked to think of them, though her body shape had for the longest time prohibited any such silliness on her part. Then she had a thought. “Why don’t you stretch for me” she said with a grin. “Sit on your haunches and reach up… impress me.” her grin was quite mischievous and testing the harness seemed to be only partially on her mind.
While the dragons were thus occupied, Samantha gathered her hunting supplies, her bow and a fresh quiver of strong iron arrows. Food and the camping gear were already inside the bags Xyo wore. Samantha had no idea how long they would be gone this time. She rushed to give her father a warm embrace, saying, “I’ll be back soon.”
“The Protector and her new dragon will keep you safe.” said Jacob steadfastly, betraying only a slight worry in his eyes.
[Yjay]: With regards to movement, it wasn’t that much more difficult with the bags mounted on Xyo’s body. His excess of flab would definitely be the cause of a few problems, however the straps had been created and adjusted in such a way that they didn’t hinder the range of motion of any of the drake’s limbs more than it had to. Even with regards to his new weight, the white dragon was already beginning to figure out the correct way for moving with the extra flab, resulting in movement being less arduous than it had been earlier that day.
When Ylssa suggested that he stretch, Xyo thought it a good way to test the harness to reduce the risk of Samantha falling off, in case something did fail mid-flight. He knew it would be bad if something happened to the mayor’s daughter, the female dragon’s threat still occasionally ringing in his mind. Without a second thought, the chubby white dragon sat on his haunches, creating an audible “Thump!” as his rump collided with the ground. Hoping the dragoness failed to notice his blunder, Xyo had to take a moment to get comfortable where he sat since his stomach now splayed out predominately while doing so. The ice dragon took in a deep breath before rearing up, creating what would be quite the fearsome display, had Xyo been only a fraction of his current weight. All of the extra lard on his form jiggled as he wobbled from the motion, making it even more apparent how much heavier he’d become.
[Shalion]: Ylssa chuckled softly at Xyo’s display, waving her paw encouragingly at him. “What a magnificent stance, Xyo!” she said only half sarcastically as she took a moment to admire how the fat had deposited itself onto his once muscular frame. Granted the muscle was still there, but Xyo was ever so much thicker now compared to yesterday. She especially did not mind the over generous belly now spreading on the ground where he sat or the way the fat rolled and creased around his haunches and hindquarters. With him reaching upward and pulling some of the looser skin tighter, it was easier to see some of Xyo’s buried musculature. If Ylssa was not completely mistaken, she would have bet that underneath all the flab, the drake was even more built up than before. Which was alright in Ylssa’ opinion, he would need the extra muscle to carry around all that weight, as well as what was to come.
Samantha came running up, looking as well provisioned as this tiny hamlet could provide. The black longbow strung across her back was taller than she was, a family heirloom if Ylssa recalled correctly, but she could not quite remember its origins at the moment. “And here is the daring huntress and my precious Xyo’s guide…” she dralled. “Just in time too. Xyo seems to be fitting well into harness, my dear. Now up you get.” she said and even as she did, she paced forward several steps, catching the girl under her hips with a surprisingly deft claw and pushing her up onto the base of Xyo’s neck. She looked at the plump white drake. “Now you protect this girl’s life as if it were your own, understand?” she said, but honestly more for Samantha and Jacob’s benefit than anyone else’s. In Ylssa’s honest opinion Samantha was completely replaceable, though it’d certainly be an inconvenience, and she doubted any other females in the village had her combination of smarts and athletics, at least to the same degree. And it had to be a human female, naturally. Drakes had their odd little predilections when it came to females of other species, even if most of them would never fess up to such hidden fancies.
[Yjay]: Xyo simply nodded carefully in agreement, to avoid accidently rocking his rider off before their journey even began. “Understood.” the white dragon said as he did so, taking a moment to become fully accustomed to Samantha now riding once more on his neck. The feeling of being ridden similar to a horse still made the dragon’s scales crawl, but to a much smaller degree. Over the past day, he’d actually grown more fond of the human’s presence than he thought he would in a lifetime. This resulted in Xyo feeling uncomfortable only for a second as he felt Samantha shift, occasionally feeling her accidently touch a section of his softened body with her hard boots.
“Are you ready for us to depart?” he asked the human situated on the saddle, but the question was also partially posted to Ylssa as well. Xyo actually had no idea as to where he had to go, meaning he was going to have to rely entirely on others for guidance. In the draconic society, it was revered to be independent, relying on nobody and fending for yourself. Those who could not do so were considered weak, and unfit to even live in the same area as those who survived independently. Xyo had managed to fit into the independent group, but only barely. Various of his other siblings had not been as fortunate, them being forced into exile from the others, left alone to survive in the tundra with most of them never being seen again.
[Shalion]: “Naturally.” said Ylssa smoothly. And she spent several minutes debriefing both Xyo and Samantha on what she had learned just now from Jacob, how thirty-odd head of cattle had been taken so far and from what parts of the village. “I have a few ideas of where these bandits might be hanging out. I don’t think you’ll have much trouble with them Xyo.” she eyed the solid bodied drake. “If they are too timid to confront the villagers, they are probably nothing more than a small group of ruffians. Now come along…”
