Ah the essence of the night seems to be the very beauty of this work. You feel calm relaxed as you gaze up at the moon and the partly clouded sky. The moisture that I can tell in the painting makes it even more relaxing and feeling great. Your work never stops amazing me.

The reflections on the water are awesome and I really like how you can see the light from the city reflected on his back. And you're able to put so much detail into the city far into the background.

I paint all my backgrounds from scratch, usually (but not always) with specific direction from my client (with commission work like this, anyway). That said, I do at times use some matte painting techniques to lay in visual noise where needed.
