Space is not the final frontier, just the next one.
I got a new computer! I have been testing out the render capabilities, and it is still surprising me. What normally took 9+ hours on my laptop takes only 40 minutes on this new desktop. This was one of my first renders using it.
My new specs:
Intel i7 7700k, 4.2 GHz
Corsair H100i liquid cooling
GTX1080 8GB with built in liquid cooling
32 GB RAM
Aorus Gigabyte Gaming motherboard
Samsung 120GB SSD
Samsung 512GB SSD
WD Black 1TB HDD
LG 27" 4K monitor (x2)
Inwin 909 aluminum case
It'll take me a while still to get up to speed with the new computer. I'm still downloading programs and such.
Rendered in Daz Studio 4.9 with Iray

Very nice.
Also a DAZ player (don't look, junk next to yours.)
I know those graphic cards can make a big difference. Currently on a 3Ghz quad core 16GB ram so you know how slow that thing was rendering before adding a pair of 1050TIs.

Trust me, you probably wont find them. If you want some serious fur, you'd need a special hair program or a modeling program that does fibers. Both of which are very straining on the system.
I don't have much trouble with the 'painted on' fur. With the right lights, anything can look good.

Yeah, I tried the 'Garibaldi Express Hair System For DAZ Studio' thing they had on sale (gone now) on a V4 model, covered the model in 'hair' and did a little shaping, took forever to render (and and extra 12GBs of my 16GB system) and dealing with 'poke through' is fun.
The 'Leather and Fur Iray Shaders' ( https://www.daz3d.com/leather-and-fur-iray-shaders ) were a little better, but poke through was still a hassle ... ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/22083900/ )
So me will play as I find the time. (looking at Hexagon wondering if I can't do a little shaping (and add ear movement/fangs/claws) to a basic figure to make a passable fuzzy one.

Hexagon is probably the wrong program. Its just not stable enough. I don't use Blender, but I know it has a good hair and fur system. The problem with the Iray shaders is its just a super strong bump map. There's no control over the fur with it unless you hand paint areas to a flat gray.
I use Garibaldi myself, and I have done alright with it. It has its drawbacks, but at the time the LookAtMyHair system kept crashing my program while Garibaldi was stable. I need to try both on my new system.
