I...I can't stop. I can't stop drawing bees...
In this story, bees are constantly being reincarnated (beeincarnated) when their short-lived body vessel dies. They are born again with all their memories and thoughts, almost seamlessly. In this way, they are immortal. The process of beeincarnation is kept going by an offering on the Solstices, where the six hives come together and mix their magic honey as an offering to the goddess of bees, Mellona.
Each of the Six Eternal Hives has a special talent granted to them by their blessed magic honey. The oldest vessels become Dancers, who dance the stories of their people and master their hive's particular "honeycraft." The six hives are Breezehive, Springhive, Summerhive, Winterhive, Autumnhive, and Rainhive. They live and work in harmony with each other.
But, of course, trouble comes to the hives when bees stop reincarnating, and New Souls with no previous lives are being born. One of these New Souls (Dahlia) is taking credit for the new concept of eternal death, and claims to be the representative of the forgotten, ancient Nighthive. Another New Soul, Heather, is our protagonist who must discover the truth about eternal death, new souls, and Nighthive.
Heather is the one with the Hex-mark on her forehead. The other two are just randos. I think I might call the story "The Seventh Hive" but I'm not sure.
