Another sumi-e painting. I did this one live on Ustream and even recorded it. It's fun to watch myself from an outsider perspective and to see how this came together.
This one was a little less meditative I think because people were watching me and I feel that comes across in the piece and in my methods of creating it. Also I was playing Muse which is not the typical music I would play while painting and that affected my mood which very interestingly affected the turnout of the piece. There is a very distinct "style" to this one of which at first I did not like, but it's now grown on me and I enjoy it.
Anyone familiar/experienced with sumi? Let's chat!

It is super fast because it's so minimalistic. There's only one stick of color only two brushes and you really only get about 3 - 5 values.
I want to get proficient at putting down the barest minimum of lines and strokes and values to express the subject. =3 that would be so awesome!
