In loving memory: June Foray (Sept. 18, 1917-July 26, 2017)
(Posted from a response to
Tiltlongtail's journal) I was saddened to hear the news about June Foray. I was fortunate to have spent time with her personally back in 2007 when I was down in my old stomping grounds of Los Angeles County. I was at the Beverly Garland Hotel and me and an old colleague of mine were waiting around in the parking lot for the on-site restaurant to open up, and June and her friend were waiting to get in as well. After some talking among ourselves, we all decided to get a table together, and we spent a good hour over breakfast talking mostly about voice acting. She was an incredible person. She had tons of stories about her career and kept me in stitches about some of the antics that went on behind the scenes. At that time, I only had mainly four different voices I utilized for my radio sets, so I told her about the voices I had done at that time. I never forgot that breakfast we had together that weekend, and I never forgot the warm, funny, witty, kind-hearted person that June was. Although she was really getting up there in age, I can honestly tell you that she had lived a very happy life, even in her later years, she seemed so happy and satisfied on the life she led and the things she's done. She was truly an amazing person. She may be leaving behind a lot of sad faces in this late hour, but she left behind a lot of fond memories as well. I'll never forget my memories of her.
